Of the 9 summer signings only 3 started today. One of which only started because Barisic was injured. PSV on Wednesday again only 3 summer signings started. So we've pretty much gone with the same players who failed to win a trophy last season in our 2 biggest games. Danilo can't play in a front 3, Dessers runs like he's towing a caravan and I'm not sure what formation lammers fits into. It all seems a bit muddled. A 3-5-2 would suit the players we've got which makes it all the more baffling why we didn't prioritise a left sided defender.

The worrying thing is that mb seems to have lost faith in his own signings and plan. He resorted to playing 4-3-3 with mostly the same old players at the first sign of trouble after kilmarnock. To get his signings in playing their natural positions he would have to play a diamond in midfield, 4-1-2-1-2, which is tricky given the way teams in scotland play against us.

If we're paying roofe off and trying to offload wright, matondo and sakala would that mean more first team action for Zak Lovelace? Or another forward to be signed?
