Just to start the Manager debate. I would like to see Ian cathro with Neil McCann as his no.2 . I think McCann is pretty decent and certainly spoke well at the fernando tribute match. Again this is just my opinion, would be interesting to see someone else mentioned apart from the usual suspects. Billy Davies, McCall, Butcher etc.

Coisty09

1.) 04 Mar 2015 12:33:07
Steve McLaren? Great manager, anyway does anyone have a clue as to what lamass is up to?

2.) 04 Mar 2015 12:38:12
Coisty09 couldn't agree more think we need a new young talented coach/manager combination for the future and not to look to 'the old guard ' for a short term fix

3.) 04 Mar 2015 12:51:38
Coisty 09, that's a good shout mate as I myself many times on here have stated that ian cathro would be a very good choice regarding what we need as the next rangers manager/head coach and I would also agree that neil mccann should have a position at rangers whether it be as a no.2, first team coach or part of a scouting network etc, if cathro was to be appointed our next manager/head coach I would honestly think felix magath should be appointed our technical director to oversee the full running of our murray park youth academy and in my opinion the magath, cathro partnership would be perfect as you have the good young upcoming coach in cathro with the experience of magath alongside him

4.) 04 Mar 2015 13:19:06
I would like to see Davie Weir and Neil Mcann take over.

5.) 04 Mar 2015 13:35:33
good shout, would be happy with that, or possibly 2nd choice, for a fee, probably, I would be quite happy with mcleish and rae. don't really fancy the names of the other usual suspects that's being banded!!

6.) 04 Mar 2015 13:43:21
How long do you think it would take McLaren to start speaking in a broad glaswegian accent. I know he was fluent in dutch :-D

7.) 04 Mar 2015 16:28:35
How about Paul Hartley? He seems to be doing an OK job at Dundee with limited resources but he'll easily keep them in the SPL next season. And if West Ham get rid of big Sam Allardice, how about him? He wouldn't stand any nonsense! As for the others mentioned before, I'm not sure about Davies or McCall but like the sound of Davie Weir and Neil McCann in some capacity.

8.) 04 Mar 2015 16:29:55
The good thing about cathro is he is young & has built a fantastic reputation in a short time but also admitted he would leave valencia if the right job for his progression came about. I like the guy & I also think Neil McCann is building a good name for himself as a coach also. cathro is young enough to spend a few years and oversee a project of his own making & I agree with Magath, he is keen to get involved and would surely use his knowledge/contacts of the German league to our benefit. just don't want him over influencing things. So yeah, Cathro, McCann & McGath would be my preferable lineup.

9.) 04 Mar 2015 16:39:15
doiger paul hartley are you some kind of nut think you are trying to wynd us up or maybe you really believe what you say pathetic to say the least

10.) 04 Mar 2015 17:23:33
zodiac. Why so negative about Hartley. He's done a damn lot better than our pathetic managers in the Championship. They are comfortably mid-table and by all accounts play decent football. The Allardice suggestion was tongue in cheek. So given your nom de plume perhaps you can inspire us all with a prediction?

11.) 04 Mar 2015 17:26:58
doiger I uptill now was quite sane

12.) 04 Mar 2015 17:31:17
Coisty09

I agree IF Magath is in place as Tech Director I think Cathro is the perfect fit for Rangers if you read Kings remit: able to build from youth up a long term plan

McCann I do not know and tbh I think most managers like to choose their own 'team' as part of the management thing is a team with same goals and coaching beliefs so McCann may be not in the same mindset as a Europhile coach like Cathro.

i am george

13.) 04 Mar 2015 18:35:14
BB) Agree would love to see Neil Mccann involved somewhere in the new set up i'm not for bringing in ex Gers men as manager but I do believe Neil could do a great job at coaching level with a view manager a few years down the line.

14.) 04 Mar 2015 20:41:13
Hartley hates Rangers, end of the story, he is probabably half decent, but his heart doesn't live at Ibrox, don't give me any shxxe about not needing to be a gers man, I know that, but do we really want a guy who took great pleasure in beating Rangers as our manager? Allardice isn't as silly a suggestion, we need to win this thing first,

15.) 04 Mar 2015 22:24:06
doiger look into hartley's background then ask yourself would any rangers fan want him as manager no no no sorry mate don't give predictions but as I have said before not an ex rangers player they are all tarred with the same stick

Well since I heard the news the current board are claiming to be re-elected through the vote I am absolutely disgusted. There are for and against here in terms of the requistisioners tactics and decision not to buy up some shares. I can't believe these guys have got their feet under the table and I feel sick to thing these people are anywhere near Ibrox and walking up and down the marble staircase like it means nothing. To me Rangers is everything. I grew up through 9 in a row and seen some great players and saw us win some great games and trophies. The way we are now is so disheartening. I still don't want to believe it's all done and dusted as I can't understand how Stockbridge has been allowed to remain. This may change tomorrow. I guess I am holding out hope that at least 2 of the requisitioners will be allowed onto the board but in all honesty I can't see it.
Stockbridge is due to get access to 500k in shares (posted by someone on here yesterday) and the most disgusting is Jack Irvine who according to Malcolm Murray will get a huge bonus for the current board remaining in power. These guys are conmen, the Easdales are mearly puppets to Charles Green and the people he represents i. e Margharita, BPH.
The club has so many people dipping into the club it is no wonder we are heading into trouble. I personally believe they will run the club dry and Ibrox and MP will be sold and leased back through an associate of Green which will be portrayed as saving the club. 2nd admin is also a possibility. Not one mandate has been put forward by the current board to protect Ibrox & MP from being sold or any other proposal to appease the fans. It infuriates me that these spivs are running our club and there is nothing that can be done. I believe we will be shown a carrot before the ST money is due for 2014/15 season and then normal service will resume.
We are too faithful and will no doubt buy season books again even though we know what's happening and where it's going.
I apologise for the rant but the wee glimmer of change I'd hoped for has been ripped away from me with the news last night

1.) The board did not claim anything, this is a story about information allegedly leaked to the bbc, we don't know who leaked the information, at least get the facts right before you go off on wan
You may not have noticed but the bbc have previous with regard to their treatment of reporting on rangers lately

JG

2.) What I said is as a concerned supporter. Irregardless who leaked the proxy vote, it's still disheartening going into the biggest AGM of our history. As for "going off on Wan", I didn't realise it was a crime to be passionate about what's happened at our club and what may happen after tomorrow. Clearly you have it sussed

3.) N2 of corse is a crime to go of on one me personally I hope the current board charter a private plane being flown by one of them and it crashes killing all on board and that's me giving them an easy way out

4.) @1 Eh what was the result of the vote JG?

I can't believe the comments being spouted on here just now about McCoist. He's won 12/12 and Rangers have been playing not bad football. There is always room for improvement but there is never any pleasing some.
The AGM should be the focus of every supporter at present. Get that out the way with Murray & King on board and then start focusing on the Football. Our aim is to win the league and do well in cups. So far we are still on plan so put you shouts to replace the manager tpo bed until the New Year
Channel your negative thoughts into Getting behind the team

1.) @ OP some of us are still traumatised by the liquidation and the fact we made a £14, 400,000 loss in 13 months. Some of us thought the way ahead was to have good young home grown talent from Murray park giving us exciting attractive football as the inflated wages of the second class mercenaries would be a thing of the past. We looked for attacking football with no fear from our well trained well coached talented youngsters. We didn't get that. We opted for paying big money for out of contract experienced premier league players and ignored the youth option. At some point the next investment of money will have run out as well. Our only hope is to produce our own youth a la Dundee United- Goodwillie, Jonny Russell, Ryan Gauld et all with high sell on value. They are the only ones doing this- sorry Forrest at Celtic? Fraser Fyvie and Peter Pawlet Aberdeen- all are currently ahead of our one regularly featuring youngster- McLeod.

The fact that we have no scouts is a disgrace but how about Ally, Kenny and Ian showing commitment to the cause and do the scouting at nights and weekends when we ain't playing?

They earn enough to put in a few extra hours.

But they need support from a good and decent board of directors and understanding fans to go for youth with all it's hazards- occasional slip ups through lack of experience.

If we don't do this we won't survive Bill Miller talked about a "black hole" in the club's finances- we spend more than we earn even allowing for the heroes who have helped themselves to a few hundred thousand pounds here and there.

If not shut Murray Park and sell it to Tesco it is too expensive for a training pitch for experienced pros with no or little sell on value which is all it is feckin used for just now.

2.) Nbear

That has to be one of the best and most sensible replies ever posted on this site. Can't really add much to it other than the major disappointment about the lack of young players now playing in the team. What has Barry McKay done not to get in the squad? And the fact there is no scouting just shows up what an amateur way the club is currently being run. Shameful and almost as embarrassing as being liquidated.

3.) @1 yes the Dundee utd way is the way to go, eh when was the last time they won the league again?

Lot of romantic cr@p being posted on here about a daft notion that playing a youth team would get us back to the top

You all make it sound so easy to get a young guy (or a team full) and turn him into a top flight player, you may not have noticed of late but this is something Scotland has been seriously lacking for many years now

JG

4.) JG

It's more about finding a balance between young players and experienced ones. At the moment only McLeod getting a game and it's disappointing that McKay has fallen out if the picture. Really thought he would become a great player for us but it looks like he may have to leave to get first team football which would be a shame. Rearing your own not will not only reduce wage costs but also can bring in much needed revenue when selling them on

5.) Cheers Stewie totally agree about wee Barry and worry that he is just not going to get a chance. Hopefully McAusland comes back and gets a chance but that is another lad I would have had in the team this year. I would also worry for Gasparato as he seems to have slipped right down the pecking order.
Its extraordinary to me that some fans are looking for more signings in January and still in spite of Admin 1 Liquidation and £14.4million loss in 13 months cannot see the danger ahead. One man's romantic cr@p is another's no brainer.

6.) Stewie - I don't disagree with that at all,
The league should be tied up early so let's hope that the younger players are given a run out after that and the chance to prove themselves

See this has been posted on the BBC website today. Have a read and see if you can spot the intent on Rangers being a new club. They just can't give it a rest
Reaching the Ramsdens Cup final is a major breakthrough for Rangers, according to manager Ally McCoist.

Rangers reached the final of the tournament for clubs outside the top flight by beating Stenhousemuir 1-0.

"The healing process which gets us back to where we want to be is going to be a slow one, " said McCoist.

"This is another step. I said to the boys before the game that winning tonight would be a major step forward for the club. "

It is the first time a team in Rangers colours will be in a national final since 2010, when they beat Celtic to win the League Cup.

And it is the first time they have reached the Ramsdens Cup final, having made their debut while in Division Three last season.

Coisty09

1.) C9. For god sake man u are parad out your skull mate. Please come off the mushies. It is a step forward. I don't see the logic in your assesment.

2.) I've no idea what your on about mate nothing wrong with that at all. Who cares what the media say about us anyway? We think it's against us the Celtic think it's against them they base there stuff on what sells whether that's playing to the fans of one side or antagonising the others both at the same time. They've had a field day with the Rangers stuff & it really annoys me but there's nothing wrong with reporting that we've made it to a final for the 1st time in 3 years Ramsdens or not lol. What about the desperate attempts to sell papers by putting stuff like Samaras to Barca on the back both sets of fans are going to buy that I did for a laugh at it. Dundee Utds players continuously being called Wonderkids I've heard the 2 lads are good but they throw that wonder kid about so often it really annoys me. Rant over bit off topic lol

3.) I may have picked it up wrong but I am sick of the last few years reporting. Especially the BBC. Correct Larky, it's what sells papers. God we had the story about the guy who was heckled with his Celtic shirt wearing dog on a bus last month. That was front page over the War in Syria or serious news.

4.) Also it was 2011 we last were in a final not 2010. The report was also left uncredited

5.) OP = whilst having no tome for the way in which the BBC have reported on our club, they are not trying to say that we are a new club. If you read the statement properly, it says that Rangers debuted in the Ramsdens cup last year whilst being in Division three. This is actually accurate ( a first for most BBC reporters ).

6.) And? what's the issue angering you?it is the first tiem we have reached Ramsdens final or have I been asleep and missed something?
Our directors mucked up hence why we in the media so much, both old ones and current, until we the support start accepting this we will always be looking for others to blame. I personally don't give a crap what's they say be it good or bad? as long we still here playing football.

7.) Op there's not much wrong with the story except the bit about our last cup final as it should have said 2011 but it was maybe the 2011 result that caused confusion what was the score that day anyway lol

8.) I'm with you coisty, for those of you that can't/won't see the problem, it's the use of the phrase 'a team in Rangers colours' that's the problem. Why not just say Rangers as they have been instructed, the Beeb have already been warned about this? And before you start, it isn't petty to pick up on this, make no mistake, terms like this are designed to needle us.

9.) I was going to agree with Jaggybunnet and not just because he has the best name on this site but agreed with the dislike of a web sitesound but now agree with Duccablue and Coisty. Why say "a team in Rangers colours"? Remember just because were paranoid doesn't mean the bu*gers are not out to get us

10.) Ed for the second time in a couple of weeks I have been critical of a national broadcaster's radio sports programme and it has appeared on here as if I said "web sitesound"?. Are you Richard "I grew up hating Rangers" Gordon? Or are we not allowed to be specific in our scepticism about lack of impartiality of national taxpayer funded companies?

{Ed001's Note - it is simply our spam filters, which remove a lot of things like that to stop them advertising. We get a lot of them trying to slip in free adverts, so that was a simple way to put a stop to it.}

As far as not a proven player goes neither was frazier Campbell going from Man Utd-Sunderland. He still went for 5-6m, different league but MacLeod should command no less than 2.5m with a sell on clause which would be the best option. Again this is in an ideal world, one which we as Rangers supporters have not seen in 3 years

You are not any less of a fan for sticking it out a little longer. Everyone is entitled to do what they feel is the right thing. I gave up my season ticket this season as I have started a new business and gave up everything but the way the club were going made it so much easier as I wasn't paying money into the club for it to be spent on the Spivs. The club is a complete shambles. From the boardroom, management & the stadium is now in dire need of some attention but yet we spent x amount on Wi-Fi that doesn't even work. The rights and contracts have all been sold off so that the Spivs have taken every penny they can so only a true Rangers man would buy into the club to steady the ship. Ashley took back a loan of 18m from Newcastle * (was on bbc website). He is not interested in anything but protecting his deal. King hasn't totally walked away but for the puppet who is Easedale is asking for details of King's backers? I can't understand that as he won't tell us who his backers are. Instead always hits out with a legalprivacy statement. The club is on the brink as it reportedly will be out of money end of November. Will Ashley ride in with this emergency loan everyone is talking about against the clubs assets? Probably but then the fans are powerless as it shows he never intended to accept Kings 16m offer even though it was in the best interests of the club. The gravy train would end and so the support keeps suffering.

I totally agree. I woould buy a season ticket in a heartbeat if the club changed hands. It's not just Dave King. George letham, Paul Murray & Douglas Park are all in it. They have the clubs interest at heart. I had to make a stand this year and give up my season ticket beacuse of the way the club was run. Ally has not picked the best team available to him and is his own worst enemy. McLeod should be playing in the middle with whom. I don't know as Law, Black, McCulloch etc are not up to it.

Too many slating this signing. What about Kevin Phillips career down South? The guy has just retired @ 40 and was still being offered contracts to play. Miller is a decent player, especially for where we are as a club. Him and Boyd would be the strikeforce we need. Daly should be sold but more than likely we may see him drafted in to CB which is ridiculous. Black, Foster, Smith, Simonsen etc should all be moved on. Only my opinion. Peralta we have hardly seen as when played he is out of his natural position. I still believe we will see a battle for the ownership of the Club happen towards the end of this month into July. We as a support deserve something
