Brighton rumoured to be readying 12-15 million offer for Kamara.

For that sort of money I think he'd be gone and we would need a high quality replacement.

If that's the type of money on offer Rangers NEED to take it. Rangers could buy 3 players at £4m and spread them throughout the team for that. Moving forward, it would be hugely beneficial if the standard of the entire squad increased, rather than be reliant on a handful of individuals as we have been these last few years.

That'd be a great deal. I'd been led to believe when he extended his contract last yr he'd agreed release clause about £10m so we'd still get good money rather then go for nothing. Must have got that one completely wrong.

VerdantAbyss do you think it’s that simple? £4m transfer fee + agent fee + signing on fee + wages for 3 players your probably talking a larger outgoing cost than incoming from the one sale.

That’s not a sustainable player trading model.

VA, along with the 4 or 5 other new signings, 2 weeks before we play Livi in the opening game.?
It's a regular excuse from some on here that some players take a season to bed in.
Let's hope not!

Kaiser, like you I thought the clause was £10m, if we can get a bit more then great but at this amount he’ll be gone. Would be another good piece of business but would hope this is the last first team squad outgoing. Match squad announcement vs West Ham will confirm if there is any truth in this I would think. Would really like an announcement soon confirming Kent and Morelos have extended.

Rangers don’t ‘NEED’ to take that money! What do some on here think we are trying to do or should be trying to do.

Everything is at risk right now! Everything!

End of the season Gio said this doesn’t have to be end of anything this doesn’t mean a large exodus!

Yet here we are now contemplating 2 more first team players going! Weeks away from season and CL. Most of you gleefully rubbing your hands together.

Staggering turn around by him if on board.

Too many on here think this is a game of FIFA they are playing. Some of you will be the first to shout if some bad results come in to.

When the season kicks off I’ll be behind the team thick and thin, every season is the same. I’ve taken people on in here plenty for their neg ‘drivel’ to quote Ed1! towards the team during a season, high high possibility that there is going to a lot of angry people about this year if we continue the fire sale.

{Ed001's Note - I think you might be getting me mixed up with someone else.}

Fire sale Aribo and Bassey? Think you're better waiting and seeing what happens before statements like that!

Rangers have only sold 2 player GDog. It’s not like there has been a mass exodus at the club. Selling Kamara would mean Rangers have only lost 3 players this summer, and could gain over £30m in much needed income.

I’ll also remind you that Celtic sold and replaced an entire team last season and did okay. So replacing a few players from a squad in much need of refreshing doesn’t concern me.

GDog, you should read back your posts before hitting send when you post this and accuse others of ‘drivel’.

What fire sale are you talking about? Aribo has left, last year of contract and wasn’t at it since Afcon, Bassey is a big loss but not a shock there was a big big offer coming in, now potentially Kamara who is no longer a guaranteed starter. Hardly a fire sale.

Everything is always at risk, Kent, Goldson, Tav could all end up with serious injuries playing West Ham tonight and are out for the season, that’s just football.

After last season, contract situations, new manager in his first proper transfer window etc there was going to be changes. I wanted our business to be done early to help preparations for CL and league but that’s not always possible. The manager is getting the players he wants in to fit his style, that can only be a good thing.

Am I happy with the players that are coming in, I’m probably on the fence at the moment, Souttar, Matondo and Tillman I think look the business, not convinced by colak and Lawrence but would be delighted to be proven wrong and they’ll all get my support regardless.

Gio is the man and he wouldn’t bring these players in if they didn’t fit the plan so I am 100% behind him, Wilson, the board and the club. Perhaps time for you to decide if you are instead of spouting this drivel.

Before the end of the season all the talk and expectation on here was of a huge clear out, so far that hasn't happened and we've raised huge fees to protect future and invested greatly in youth. Also made so quality exciting additions. Where is the problem? If Kamara goes, it was expected but good work to get him to extend for a season so we'd still get good money rather than lose for nothing. Would be happy to do same with Kent and Morelos.

I said mid way through last season kamara aribo bassey kent morelos etc would all leave whether we won the league or not as its just there time to move on. Great if morelos and kent stay. But its nothing to do with fire sale just there time to move on and progress there careers and earn as much money as they can.

People need to understand that Rangers have been trying to create a buy to sell model. We are a selling club. When guys like Aribo and Bassey go that’s a sign that the model is working - It’s what we want to happen. It’s not a cause for panic.

Morelos and Kent are entering the final years of their contracts. If they don’t sign new ones the must be sold and replaced. There can’t be inaction because it could be perceived as a “fire sale”, or it might take new players w hole to settle settle in’. We sell and replace just like every other team needs to do.

I agree with most posts on here

It’s not a fire sale
Gio needed to bring in players to fit into his plans and put his mark on the team we’ve sold a couple players made great revenue
Some very exciting and talented looking players have joined
Signed some great youth players
I’m very happy and very excited how Goo brings it altogether
Another striker in I would be over the moon.

Until Scottish football earns as much as other leagues in European football we have no choice but to sell players to raise revenue, and if a huge offer comes in for a player like Kamara, then selling must be considered before any other factors. Selling Kamara may leave us short on the field, but it will be another huge step towards continued guaranteed solvency, and give us the ability to invest in new talent.

Bassey only came into the Team as a recognised first team player last season and we will potentially earn £22m+ for him, Patterson was a squad player and we generated a potential £12m+. Aribo, yes one of our top players but again we have banked £6m+ with more to follow.
So far we have replaced both Aribo and Bassey and have finally signed a right winger and we have replaced Itten with Colak. We have also signed Tilman who by all accounts is a quality young player. Selling Kamara for £10m will be a very good deal so long as we replace him with a similar or better quality player.
Yes, it is always a risk but we arguably should have refreshed the squad before the start of last season and we didn't so hopefully these new acquisitions will all be positive. I would like to see us sign Alfie on a new contract as well as Kent and I do hope that when needed we give young McCann a run out rather than fall back on Davis who is now far too slow and could prove a liability against better teams!

Rangers are not skint but I am led to believe the boats are prioritising clearing our debts to eventually us being a debt free club. Music to all rangers fans ears and the long term finances of the club must be number 1 and never taken to the places it was taken in the past.

As for money to spend. There is still money.

We sold 45,000 season tickets. We sell out every new bit of merchandise we bring out. 20 million for Bassey. 29 million from europa run. 4 million for Gerrard. 1 million for Rory wilson. 10 million for Aribo.

We are going fine and I trust the manager, director of football and board to keep stearing club in the right direction.

If we sign a player they are clearly good enough. If we sell a player, it was the right decision to take at that moment.

Trust the experts in charge.

Gdog all you've done is snipe and be negative since before the window opened and slaughter the club for every decision they have made. Astounding to me that you are on talking about people being negative. These 2 sales will put us on a strong footing for the next few seasons.
