John or anyone else in the know. whose the European player possibly coming in? Would love it to be Olaru but apparently valued at 4.5m so can't see that happening this window. Beale said 2 EPL players and 1 European at the time. Maybe wrong but did he say Eastern European? Now looks like 2 from English championship. Cantwell and Whittaker.

I wish we would buy from the Scandinavian and Balkan markets. The amount of dross we have signed from England in recent years is disgusting. Olaru -£4m, Raskin £1m, Sadiki-£1m, Krystovic -£3m.

When Beale said players of premier league quality I think Cantwell would have been included in that. Obviously he’s playing in the championship just now but he’s a player with good premier league experience and I guess the other is the boy from Fulham.

We’ll spend it if Beale thinks a players worth it but ultimately January is the harder transfer window to get a player at his true value at. Selling clubs have a higher bargaining point particularly when the buying club is a club who isn’t doing so well domestically so far this season.

I know the interest in Raskin is still there and he’s out of contract in the summer.

Personally, other than Cantwell and Whittaker, both of whom will hopefully sign this transfer window I would be inclined to target getting some top quality Bosmans, (and there are a good few that are available in the summer), signed up on pre-contracts. I would much rather that we spent the money to give these guys a good contract than spending £2m+ on players just to make up the numbers. Depending on whether Kent and Morelos stay or go I would suggest that we will need to bring in at least three or four players that can walk straight into the Team, including a goalkeeper, a centre back and a striker. I see no point in Helander or Davis being given a new contract, unless we want Davis as a player coach and I still expect us to sell one or two.

Pulling eastern Europeans is not easy anymore it's a market everyone looks at and a market that has been on serious decline for the last 20 years.

Same with Scandinavians it's a market everyone looks at.

You can sit and say we should look here and there but prem clubs will have tabs on almost every player in these markets and soon as we bother to go after them some other club will always outprice us it's not a cheap market either.

Look at Adam Hozek who went for 15mill euros, Hancko 6mill to feyenoord.

Really don't believe he is better than what we have (raskin) has got time on his side unlike our other midfielders he could develope and if it's a bosman then fine but we have enough players in that position especially if Beale intends to keep sands ?.
