When I first suggested it mate I wasn’t aware Kelly was Motherwell captain. In fact it couldn’t remember where he went after livi off top of my head. But I think now was qpr as no2? Then Motherwell. ?
Anyway, instead of mccrorie being referred to as our no3 n him as captain etc. I’d look at it as talent. I think mccrorie every bit as good a keeper as Kelly and the only reason it wouldn’t happen is Kelly’s international chances. But Gunn has that nailed down now. So if we sweetened the deal with say £200k? Why not Motherwell struggle to kb that money, Kelly might fancy a crack at no2 for us? But no I don’t expect him to come as no3
I’ve a feeling any keeper coming in would be as no2 or else we wouldn’t go for them. Kieran wright is no3 if jono is no2 then we don’t need a keeper. If we bring a keeper in it’s as a 2 with jono and mccrorie moving on.

I think everyone is missing the all important part, IF the Kelly rumour is true, he is a former Rangers player so he he knows the expectations of the club, he’s a Rangers supporter too and gets what it is to pull on the blue jersey (or yellow in his case) but the type of voice we need in the dressing room, it’s all very well having all these great players coming in (great on paper and for the club they’ve come from) but a lot of them don’t understand the difference between playing at clubs who are afforded draws and certain losses by their fans where as we expect them to win every time they go out on that pitch to represent our institution, having Gers men in the dressing room can help get that message across, even just on the pitch, you look at that mob across the city and how their performances dip slightly when their captain is absent from the games. Something we haven’t had since Barry was captain is someone to grab the team, NOT the game, the team, by the scruff of the neck and drag them through the matches where teams have battled hard or where they needed a kick up the arse during an Old Firm, I’m not saying LK would be the answer to that but being Motherwell club captain can only help, I think Niko and Cantwell will be very prominent this year in their leadership on the pitch, Tav for me is never a Rangers captain, great servant to the club but never seen him vocal enough for my liking, what I did like in the Hoffenheim game was Jack Butland holding the ball and talking to his back 4 about what they need to stop, what they need to do better and that’s exactly why Jon M should never be back near our playing squad, that and THAT pass in the OF!

Not as daft an idea as it sounds, apparently has only a year left on his deal and is stalling on signing another one. If McCrorie does leave we could maybe pick him up for less than we bring in and sweeten the pot by loaning or selling them McLaughlin. McLaughlin is also in the Scotland reckoning and a good year there could push him back into the squad .

The reports on here that they’re working on bringing in a replacement before selling him will be on the right track imo. We clearly were doing the same and not selling players until suitable replacements were in. Would keep an eye out for feyenoord bringing in a new striker and hopefully that’ll be the key indicator of when Danilo will come.

I feel he’s be a better option than Danilo as he is more likely to accept playing back up to start with. Don’t want 2 £5m strikers coming in at same time and both expecting to be 1st choice as it would instantly cause a bit of bad atmosphere even if not meant by the players. Traore is younger and more likely to accept 2nd fiddle and relish the challenge of proving himself.
Also likely he will have a better sell on value.
Traore just seems a better fit.

Both Danilo and Dessers can play at the same time. Danilo can play as a number 10 behind the striker/ s. Rangers deployed a split striker formation at points last season with a false 9 in between pulling out defenders.
I think Danilo is very much like Morelos but with a lot more compose in front of goal. He can offer us that sort of player and we’ve benefited from it immensely in r event years. Ronald de Boer said Dessers was a very different kind of striker who liked to use his physicality and stayed around the box a lot more.
Danilo is very versatile and gives us a different option. I absolutely hope we get him in.

Strength in depth is great but we certainly can’t afford unrest in the squad and a £5m sun who expected to be 1st choice. I’d guess the Danilo thing is dead and he was 2nd choice to dessers who was 2nd choice to hadji wright.
When u throw in the rest of the attacking squad players we now have I don’t see Danilo happening mate.

Stevie - Danilo could be better than Lammers. Sima is only here for a year on loan. Danilo is a different type of player than Dessers and might be the better option as the lone CF in some matches. If Cantwell was injured or suspended then Danilo could perform that CAM role in a 4-3-3.
Danilo is a quality player. He would provide not only strength in depth, but he would allow the manager to switch up systems. I really do hope we get him.
Danilo, Cifuentes, and a new LCB, and I think this team would be ready to go.

Only Goldson is on that level, Souttar has never played in the champions league, and Davies is shocking at that level, none of the young lads are ready for that kind of test as demonstrated in the liverpool game where we got slaughtered, as soon as Goldson went off injured, liverpool exploited the back line weaknesses perfectly.

The players are about to jet out for Germany and get a good preseason. Hopefully 3-4 guys are moved out in the coming weeks to reduce the squad size and raise more capital.

I'd happily sell Tav and Goldson this summer. 7.5m for Tav and 3.5m-4.5m for Goldson would be good business in my opinion. We need to bring in money selling players come the summer. 4.5m of our budget is already being spent on Diomande.
Fans also want Sima permanently. I'd let both them go along with all our out of contract players. Scott wright, Ben davies, Rabbi Matondo also need moved on. Matondo on far too high of a wage for an "impact player". Not consistent enough to start games. Can be excellent and hopeless but more the latter. Big rebuild needed this summer again!

I can see the Saudi's paying a decent fee for Tav and although some might not see it, he will be a success out there if he can settle.
This is a country where money is no object and even a fee of £5m / £10m to secure the top scoring defender in the UK who has won The league and a Cup as well as captaining his side to a European Final, will be box office.
We need to stop down playing our own players just because they play in a rubbish league like the SPL.
With Goldson he doesn't have the track record of Tav., in terms of goals scored, deadball accuracy etc., and as such I would be surprised if we could secure even £2m for him even if the Gerrard press rumours were true.
The biggest benefit for us is getting him off our books and saving his wage so long as we don't then throw the money away on another poor signing.
