RE: Shankland, I don't think anyone sees him as a first choice striker. But we need a squad of players, and he would give us an option from the bench, plus he's another much needed homegrown player and he loves the club. I'd take him any day over some of the current squad fillers we have.
Guys like him and Liam Kelly (if McCrorie goes) are never going to be world beaters, but bring something we need in the club. That said, There's no way he's ever worth more than £1-2m, and that's with the 'homegrown' premium on him.

Yo-Jimbo, it’s ok saying we need squad players, but if we’re spending decent money on a player, ideally you want them playing and not on the bench. Right now we don’t have the luxury to spend £3m (just say) on a striker to be a squad player.

@Chasni, agree we couldn't / shouldn't spend £3m for a bench player. I'd want him for half that. But if we're going to give ourself a chance in Europe (e. g. the Europa longer term) we need to source some local lads.

? sake at this point I'd take a hard working shankland over dessers hope he is better than what he's showed us so far as he looks slow not interested and wants too many touches and is all over the place position wise.
Noticed at least 4 times players looking up to play ball into middle for him and he wasn't there so they checked the sima one being the biggest stand out one.

Think a lot of the players struggled on that surface, never liked it, seemed to worse than previously. It was always going to be the case that players would take time to gel.
