I know a lot of people keep speaking about managers and timelines etc.
I hate to be a stickler for details but I fully believe that we will not have managers anymore it will be head coaches. The difference being the club will select head coaches who fit with the players we have, our approach and transfer targets.
No more top men being managers who come in and shape the club. This will be the job of Thelwell and most likely Steinsson that will decide wage structures, transfers in and out. This means even if a manager isn't appointed until early-mid June our targets will already have been identified and pursued, as will negotiations to sell players.
I have watched and listened to a few pods, read a good few interviews from ex-players (iwobi, javi Martinez, etc) who all speak extremely highly of DA. I know little about him other than that but I prefer this to Gerrard and I believe we will look to brighton's approach of bringing in coaches we can make profit on similar to they did with Potter or Sheffield Wednesday are looking to do with Rohl.

This run of form is solely down to them. Anyone should be able to come in off the street and manage Rangers to home victories over queens park and motherwell.
This season is entirely down to the losers and charlatans in this squad.

I heard the manager at Hannover 96 who brought him in on loan was sacked recently. Matondo can now claim to have seen off 4 managers in 3 seasons. Frank Lampard must be having a huge sigh of relief that Matondo was angling for higher bonuses than Coventry could put on the table in January. Talent has always been there but I think his confidence is shot to bits after injuries and inability to be consistant. Jefte will have played 3 times as many minutes this season alone than Matondo in the last 3 at Rangers and Hannover combined.

During preseason players are tested and retested over a number of areas.
One of the most important repetitive tests is on electrolytes, and alcohol would have a massive impact on this.
Personally I find it hard to believe any player would risk this during the first days of preseason and find it even more difficult to believe with Matondo due to his reputation.

BB it may be true but I find it hard to believe that during pre-season when the fitness testing is ongoing that a player would be in a club and so drunk but then be able to turn up next day and perform in the ongoing fitness tests which happen and manage to fool the coaching staff.

When we have a very limited budget for players these loans are the only way to add more quality to the squad so to say we should stop doing it is nonsense. Most clubs do it, Arsenal who are currently second in the EPL and more or less through in Europe have 2 loan players and I bet neither will be at the club next season. Its the modern game.
And by the way we did have an option to buy Tillman, which Bayern reneged on . We still made £2.5 million on the deal though.
It would have been brilliant to have all three, playing across the attack though.

@ foreverrangers, Firm option to buy not always great either, take Cortes for example, hardly kicked a ball due to injury and had little time to make any impact but from what I've read we are now obliged to pay somewhere in the region of £4m for a player that has not shown in my opinion anything close to this in worth. Would much rather pay 6 odd for Cerny knowing what we would get than 4m on Cortes who is constantly injured and don't know what he is capable of.

It's crazy that some fans want a striker that scores goals, dessers does that and we finally get a guy that can score 20+ a season and the fans say no not good enough. ?.
Igamane or Danilo don't score that amount of goals plain and simple. I had a poster saying today he doesn't get enough assists ?. The best goalscorer in the world right now is Haaland who doesn't get enough assists and what is worrying is that guy is working at Rangers.

He has scored 50 goals in 2 seasons, not 30 and that is when we supposedly don't play to his strengths, so perhaps the new manager will play a style that better suits him. At the moment he is better than a perpetually injured striker and a young lad who is yet to play as many games as Dessers has scored goals this season.

Dessers is nice big fella, he also tries hard and is always available on top of that he's got a great goal return, all these things can be true and are but that doesn't mean people can't want better.
I think his all round play is poor and some of his decision making is baffling that doesn't mean I don't like him or appreciate what he does on the park.
I actually think it's both him not being the striker we need and other players not chipping in with goals to help out enough.
Dessers missed chances are highlighted more when nobody else steps up or we give away a horrendous goal in defense.
I think we sell him and try generate some cash and wish him all the best imo.

I have to say I'm no fan of Dessers but I'm leaning more and more towards getting shot of Danilo, who, misses lots of sitter too, is never fit, and looked today as if he didn't want to be there, so let's make that come true for him and he can take that truly useless centre half Propper with him. He is possibly the worst centre half I've seen in a Rangers jersey and there have been some belters in the fifty odd years I've been watching the Gers.

I like dessers a lot for his goals and attitude and will always have a soft spot for him but there's no room for sentiments. His all round game is just not up to scratch unfortunately. Whatever happens i'll wish him well weather he stays or goes but i think the way to go is with an igamane/ danilo or a new signing who can hold the ball up, bring others into play, lead the line properly and if we are lucky score the same amount of goals dessers does.

Angus I said 30 League goals in 2 seasons. It was actually 34 but the point is still valid - not nearly enough.
Simon Murray on a fraction of the wages and about £5M less in transfer fees has 30 (with a game to go) at clubs fighting relegation battles.
In terms of being offside constantly - loads of strikers play on the shoulder and aren't offside nearly as much as CD. Maybe he should try arching his run rather than running in straight lines all the time.

Raskin could easily contribute to a league winning team, he has the ability to make a contribution with better players around him. Dessers doesn't.
The mark of the man is taking a penalty to be top scorer but bottling it in a penalty shootout for a trophy.

Dessers has improved quite a bit since the temporary team came in he's more instinctive and Fannie's about less and gets his shots away quicker, big credit probably goes to Billy Dodds for that. With current form we should be keeping him unless a right good offer comes in, but we also need to bring in a striker that can lead the line and hold it up better because in Europe and the old firm games it's key that we have that option, and we know that's not Dessers strength.
But you can't argue with his goals tally and credit to him for that.
So let's have different options as we tend only to play with one out and out striker.
Going back to Walter Smiths second spell we had Cousin, Darcheville and Boyd as our strikers, Boyd scored goals against most of the teams in the spl but was often left out of games in Europe and old firm games as we required something different.
Let's play to Dessers strengths more and have options when needed and hopefully this starts close season.

I know the manager/ head coach what ever you want to call has to be the right appointment but for me what's more important than that is recruitment that needs to be absolutely 100% bang on the money.

Our recruitment in recent years hasn't been anywhere good enough. Any manager would struggle with the players we have signed.

Strom think the appointments behind the scenes are the ones that need to be right. We have been a basket case for 10+ years, tried the Rangers man as manager, experienced title winning manager, good coach manager. And big name in football as manager all have been a disaster! We have tried the signing experienced players and we have tried signing the prospects and both have been a disaster, which to me says the shambles behind the scenes has impacted the performance of both players and managers. With a more settled knowledgable owner and board and the right appointments in key roles I think we will in time reap the rewards. Maybe it's just wishful thinking but that's my opinion for what it is worth.

I think our recruitment has had success recently. also I think fans need to realise that not all buys are successful at any club. average is 40% success rate across all clubs. so yes there may have been a number who weren't successful but Morellos, Souttar, Dessers, Tavs and a good few others have worked for us.

I defined it as player was good value for the money which is what was alluded to as being a poor signing. they can individually be a success even if the club rent successful. at a different level but would you say Bruno Fernandes was successful at United despite their lack of trophies.
