Hope gio comes good. I do not think he has the pulling power gerrard had. I believe GVB comes across less passionate as u can clearly see he is not very fluent in english, umm umm umm all the time. Gerrards pulling power and terms of communication skills were top notch, a manager a player wants to play for. Problem is if gio can't turn things around, rangers won't have money to pay him out his contract then go for a high calibre name which would also cost an arm n a leg. How many yr is gvb m contracted too? League ain't over but if celtic do win league, hopefully we get into CL through qualifiers as we would need tht money to help a rebuild, and its not a small rebuild at tht. Build a strong spine i say. We need a sweeper keeper who is great with ball at feet aswell as saves. Mcgregor bn great in europe for us but if the amount of points dropped in league this season we would be sitting top this min. We need a creative scoring mid, wingers who actually give u numbers consistantly. Not just show up n perform for 6 games a season. We need a prolific goalscorer to compete with n pos partner morelos. 1 or 2 solid centre halfs. Get rid of players deemed not good enough and bed in afew younsters from the B team. And please any signings we can complete. No injury prone players you are lucky to get 50% games out of season on season. Bring in Strong spine, ship afew out, bed some youngsters in. I believe we should look to get roofe n pos hellander off wage bill. Both good players but not available often enough. Roofe good in form but when he gets back takes him afew games to get upto speed then back to treatment table. Hellander is prob our best def imo just u need a pair of cb to build a solid relationship on the same wavelength knowing eachothers game. This cannot be achieved with a cb pair constantly changing. And from middle to front team are lacking in goals and assists from every position. Morelos has bn too heavily relied upon. So if he doesn't put in a great display, who do u look at and say no worries we got blah blah blah aswell they will win it for us. Not a lot imo.

In three and a half years Gerrard's pulling power got us zero marquee players and Ovie Ejaria. It was money he got, and Gio's not had a bean. He did sign Ramsey though.

“Gerrard a manager players want to play for” odd when you look back the players were no longer responding to Gerrard before he jumped ship.

Yes john i'd also move them on if possible. Not reliable enough fitness wise which ultimately means they cannot be relied upon, n it may be tough fixtures they miss. Sometimes abit hit and miss when back fit. However u need a good run of games to build good form and confidence and this cannot be achieved if u are having to constantly change the first 11 due to injury. I didn't write all the names down as i think i stated my point. I just mentioned roofe and helander as we paid decent money for these guys who must be on a decent wage. Good players on their day but cannot believe we paid big bucks for these guys knowing their fitness issues were no secret.

2blue, definitely looks like the villa players want to play for him, he completely tranformed their season around in a couple of months.

A bit unfair, I can understand Gio’s English perfectly well. I bet some of our foreign players understand him better than they understood Gerrard’s scouse accent.
If Souttar can stay fit he might be a good option. Agree with the rest of your post but not easy to recruit on limited budget, especially a top goal scorer and a goal scoring midfielder.

2Blue, I agree mate, another way to look at things now down South could be 'Gerrard, Jacket on a shoogly peg', he has spent money at Villa, and done nothing of note so far. Just my opinion, but he won't get the Liverpool job when Klopp moves on, not wit his current record. Frank Lampard is another who was touted heavily for big jobs, so far he's also failing big time, Giovanni will be just fine, I'm sure of it, goodness, those wanting rid, should look at SG's 1st two seasons, we need to be patient.

Players came because of the ridiculous wages we pay that's why we never seem able to get rid of likes of Barker until he was in last months of his contract and many more I could name nor gerrards pulling power.

Broxibear it is complete rubbish to say Gio is not fluent in English.
He has no difficulty speaking or understanding and words in any conversation I have heard.
The ummm's and ahhhhs are an affectation or a habit picked up whilst learning and is very common to all peopl using a second language in a stress situation.

Just my opinion. don't believe he speaks fluently, it shows in his press conferences. He speaks with not a lot of passion, is monotone and takes abit of time presenting straight forward answers. I know he speaks english but not fluently well enough to get his point across like other managers. Not want to mention tht other mob but the dif between anges communication skills and gios is their to see. Gerrards aswell. This wasnt a post saying i want him out. Was just thinking of a theory to some question tht was posed on a previous thread.

Elephant in the corner time, where do we get 50 -60 mill+ to replace all the players that reportedly leaving.
Dont say 'sales' because buying clubs have us over a barrell.

Broxi he had the same effect when he joined Rangers but in the later times players were not performing for him anymore. let's see what happens at Villa.

Massive fan of Gio here but I concede his English isn't flawless. It's good, very good, but he is guilty of occasionally being unable to verbalise English and ends up in the 'do a mistake (make) ' fallacy the foreign tongue often has with our admittedly confusing language.

I am quite certain that Gio will be able to attract quality players, he is well known in Europe and has considerable respect in the Dutch and Spanish Leagues for example.

There will be players that would jump at the chance to play for him and play for Rangers but three questions, (i) Will he be allowed to find his own players or does he have to rely on what Wilson identifies, (ii) Will the Board support him with a serious transfer budget, and (iii) Can we get rid of the dregs that aren't at the end of their Contracts, (players such as Itten, Wright and Simpson to name just three) .

We need to also hope that assuming that Kent, Aribo and Kamara leave that we secure a decent transfer fee for them, otherwise why is Wilson here!

I don't know what what caliber of players Gio will be able to attract but to have a go at his English is pathetic. The club and Gio have a collective responsibility to attract players his not on his head alone.
By the way, ever tried to make a speech in front of 200 people who don't speak your mother tongue? I have and I can tell you it's certainly not a doddle.

We need to give Gio time, he is working with Gerrard’s squad of players and they have not performed for a long time (Europe excluded, which I think is because its an opportunity to put yourself in the shop window if you want away) . I blame Gerrard for the failure to win the league, not Gio. Give him decent funds to rebuild and let's see what he can do. Gerrard’s signings were pretty poor to be honest.
