See for Ryan Kent do folk see the same as me and that he’d thrive with better players around him and in a better league? Say he got a move to a lower level prem team then he’d have so much more time and space as he wouldn’t be playing against a low block with teams doubling up on him. One thing that can sometimes be overlooked with Kent as well is that he puts an absolute shift in. Not many wingers as talented as he is will work back as hard as he does.

Yip davieb, spot on?.

Championship player at best.

Certainly works hard. The other mobs wingers don't have trouble playing v the low block at all. They score 4 times the amount of kent. Playing for a low team in thr prem he won't have near as much of the ball as he does at rangers so argument can go both ways there.

I agree he does put some work in.

Paul they’re different types of players playing in a different set up. Kent is the creator in our team the amount of times he assists the assist is ridiculous and there’s certainly no doubt we’re worse when he doesn’t play. An example I’d give is look at the front 3 of Liverpool a few years ago. Salah Mane and Firmino. Did you think Firmino should get dropped because he didn’t score very often or get that many assists? He was the main striker and rarely scored so he must’ve been rubbish? For the money it would cost to sign someone of his ability I’d definitely push the boat out on a new contract.

But should he be offered another contract because he puts in some work? he is a forward player and brings zero goals to our team that is what we expect from forward players.

Teams double up on Kent as he is viewed as our main threat. Add in some more creativity like we have done recently and watch him thrive and get his numbers up. Teams have other concerns now with Tillman, Cantwell etc and the rotation as a whole, which fits Kent’s style. I think he will sign a new contract.

Correct Scotty123, but some just don't seem to see/ understand this mate ?.

So he's not good enough to influence games in the SPFL but he will thrive in the EPL because he has got better players around him?
Surely that could be said about most players?
And we are excusing his goal / assist contribution because he tracks back?
Sakala has 3 x the goals and is only 1 behind in assists. And most on here think he is useless!
Unfortunately Kent is too inconsistent to make it in the EPL.
If he could replicate his performance against Dortmund away week in, week out then he would have a better chance.

We play a different style to the other mob, that's why they beat the low blocks easily and that they score lots more . We have a build up that's too slow and based on over passing, that's the fault of successive managers Gerrard, GVB and Beale who have all favoured this way of playing, that's not Kents fault. The comparison with Sakala is also not relevant as he plays further forward than Kent and his role is to score not be involved in the build up. His good numbers are very short term and if he does that over a couple of seasons then he will have proved himself. You could argue that Sakala set up Cantwells goal on Sunday but who put Skala through . Kent. Kent is an important member of our team and will be missed if he goes.

All this nonsense that Kent doesn’t score many because he has 2 players marking him.
Colak – 13 goals from 75 attempts ( 17% goal conversion ) .
Morelos – 9 goals from 67 attempts ( 13% goal conversion ) .
Sakala – 7 goals from 68 attempts ( 10% goal conversion ) .
Ryan Kent – 3 goals from 55 attempts ( 5% goal conversion ) .
And for context:-
Kyogo – 29% goal conversion
Maeda – 25% goal conversion
Abada – 20% goal conversion
Jota – 14% goal conversion
Excuses, excuses, excuses.

The amount of times he assists the assist ? is this where we are going with that now lol.

3 goals from 55 goals is absolutely pathetic.

55 attempts that should read.

Ryan Kent reminds me of the story of the emperor's New clothes. We were sold something magical but infact there's nothing there. Imo he is very overated and seems people will use any reason to defend him.

Assist the assist
Runs about
Marked by 2 players creating space for others to exploit.
But still managed 55 shots on goal ( SPFL only ) and only scored 3?
The only player where excuses are made for him not doing his job.
Meanwhile on the RW, the much maligned Sakala is out scoring him?‍♂️.

You are correct MPH, good posts and good stats and sakala doesn’t play further forward that’s just nonsense.

I don't think it matters who Kent plays with he holds on to the ball too long and only passes when it's too late.

24 Mar 2023 19:35:12
Mph i knew Kent was very poor at finishing but 3 goals for 55 chances i never thought it was as bad as that, i would prefer the boy from Aberdeen and he'd be on about a tenth of Kent wages.

As much as pre assist are a thing a would much rather him scoring and assisting himself.

21.) 24 Mar 2023
24 Mar 2023 22:45:20
A reason why Kyogo etc have better conversion rates is that they play closer to the goal and thrive on scraps. They WANT to score. The low crosses in to the box are harder to defend and from deflections, keeper spills and rebounds, goals are scored.

How many times does mcgregor assist the assist for the assister to assist? Remarkable really.
