If this was to go ahead it would probably have to be a minority share in the club, otherwise any chance of us ever playing in Europe again is gone. Similar to the city group this season with Man City and Girona.

Overall would not be a fan of this anyhow, all up for more investment but don’t like the idea of us being part of these groups that serve to feed one club.

Work Permit will likely be given on appeal. Diomande doesn't meet the required points to get a automatic GBE, but the Scottish appeal system is pretty simple in that a permit will be provided if the player is "able to contribute significantly to the development of the game at the top level in Scotland". So all should be fine but may take a few days for the appeal process.

It would be a great model for Scottish clubs to try and get players to move to England. Signing players who can’t meet work permit criteria, where they can stay for a year or two and build up points to then sell for a profit to an English club. Guessing this is less likely to happen now with the new English system.

Yeah, I think a club appealing would have to pay a fee of around 4/ 5k and have to make their case to the SFA on why they should be allowed to sign the player. But with the criteria being so vague it’s pointless.

England have adapted their system for the coming years. Have brought in a new type of permit called a ESC, where clubs are allocated up to 4 ESC slots based on the amount of minutes they give English players. Something like that would be interesting in the Scottish league to try and promote playing more homegrown talent, but that’s another discussion.

It’s all based on how many “points” a player has obtained over the past few years of their career. They get points for playing international football, playing minutes for their clubs, playing continental minutes and where their club finished the last season. A player has to be granted 15 points to get a permit.

The reason we are seeing Scottish teams sign players that don’t meet the requirements is the appeal system. The SFA have determined that anyone who can positively impact the Scottish game will be given a work permit. England had a similar system but didn’t let anyone in during the time it was active.

Some players that signed for Scottish clubs using this Work Permit appeal are the likes of Liel Abada, Cammy Devlin, Maeda, Kucheriavyi.
