Too early to press the panic button however I like a lot of others on here had reservations about Beales appointment. We were always told he was the tactical genius under Gerrard and we won 1 trophy albeit the most important one but let's face it we struggled to break teams down under his tactics often before and it looks like Groundhog Day watching that yesterday. It's one game yesterday the other mob will drop points nothing is won or lost on the first day of the season so we move onto Wednesday let's see yesterday was just a problem.

Agree Lammersloyal, it’s far too early to push the panic button. I have to say though I can’t say I disagree with some of the concerns I’ve read today about the performance yesterday and in particular the lack of width in the team. If we have money to spend from the sale of Sakala, Davies and Wright then a LCB and more importantly a winger that can go past defenders and put in a cross wouldn’t be a bad additions to the squad.

Yesterdays performance was poor, team selection and tactics questionable. That's on the manager but the players were, all to a man, well off it. Hopefully lessons learned so I'm just marking it down as a bad day at the office. Let's see what Wednesday brings.

Jfm well done Sherlock! I have been on this site for some time albeit under a different username so that’s by the by. Yes Beale has only been here since December as manager however he was first team coach under Gerrard so should be more tactically astute when it comes to a low block.

Morning guys, final game of pre season today before the competitive games start next week at Kilmarnock. Intrigued to see what team starts as it will most likely be as close to our starting 11 as we have seen possibly with the exclusion of cifuentes hope Danilo can get some game time as he has been playing for fayenoord in preseason games. Looking for an assured performance today all over the park but mainly in defence.

Colak away Wright and Kamara look to be on their way very soon. The signings that have been made have been done quickly with one or two rumbling on we all know who they are or could be! Very good business being done by the club of late so hats of to MB and the board.

Mark they have recruited well and got most right.
They signed two Japanese boys early doors, Kyogo and a left back that hardly featured, also Japanese midfielder not Hatate and centre half that are mostly squad players, the Irish boy McCarthy didn’t quite work out either.
Probably key difference is their big outlays have done well for them.

I’d take it and run. I like lunny however he slows the play right down we need quicker forward thinking players in the middle of the park.
