There is a lot of discussion on here about strikers and CH being the problem in our team.

While I agree those areas need improvement in the summer it's not our biggest problem.

It's so clear to me that wide forward areas have been our weakest position all season. Only Sima has been good in wide forward areas this season.

Given he is not even our player, all we really have to fill those 2 positions is Wright, Mccausland and Matondo.

Wright and Mccausland contribute so little to the team we have Sterling playing out there ahead of them. He is a good player but he should never be played there, just does not have the skill set for the position.

Matondo shows flashes which makes you think maybe, just maybe. But let's face it that's all they are, flashes. He is also constantly injured.

If I look back on this season and what cost us should we fail to overcome Celtic in the league it will be wide forward areas that has been the clear issue.

I don't get the lack of chat on this especially when you consider we have not had an actual proper right sided forward since Daniel Candeias.

Am I the only one thinking this.

I agree with you and had we been able to keep sima and Cortes fit we would maybe have been comfortably top of league, if we sign them permanently I think that’s a good two wide men going forward, m roofe and lammers most likely off will let us bring in another 9 hopefully an upgrade. I also see one of Danilo/ dessers being moved on if suitors can be found.

your correct in that mate, we are very short but would h@ve had cortes there and i thought he was great in the time we saw him, but ch is a major issue, as is our right back, that's why butland will be miles ahead player of the season, because he's the main reason the defence may look like they're the strongest, but they're not, the keeper has saved them time and again, i agree sterling is not a winger, nor a keft back, i thoght he was lost v hearts, , i think pc will address the wing positions and hopefully cortez will be here.

I agree that undoubtedly we need better wide players who'll contribute with goals and assists 👍I like the idea of sima on one side and oscar cortes on the other side, as both these players have impressed me and should both be signed permanently for me 🙏.

Yesterday I used the word "Imposters" to describe some of our players. Apologies for using that particular terminology in the heat of the moment during the saints game. To clarify the wording i will gladly change the description to Players who play for the club who do not fit the standard required for this great club. Would I change my opinion if by some miracle we win the league. no. Our manager would be the hero in that case for getting the best out of mediocrity that hides in plain sight .

We have all been guilty of letting our emotions blind us, I think most know Mr Clement has some work to do in the summer. We are all desperate for a dominating side again, those of us a bit long in the tooth grew up watching various successful sides managed by different characters but this has been a painful decade for us all. Maybe our next great side is just a few months away.

Was asked who I thought our poy was over the season so far. Pick my top 3 in order for supporters bus. I said butland first, was stuck for 2nd but picked lundstram as I actually thought he was our best performer earlier in season then I was snookered for 3rd.
That's actually quite bad I think 🤔.

Butland wins by a country mile, might not be the most popular vote but solely for his goals and set pieces I would go with Tav for second.
I'm not a Lundstram fan, don't believe his contribution has been that great and in reality no one has really stood out!

young ross had a good few weeks but i don't believe he can take is firward, i really hope pc clears the decks, but if he already told too many they can go then he's played with fire before the leagues decided.

Butland 1st Lundstrum 2nd. Sima 3rd, Lundstrum kept us ticking for months so like it or not he second best player this season, not being playing great recently but in no way has he downed tools like others have when running down contract that’s why he will start every game until end of season.

Butland only outstanding candidate. 2 Tav 3 Dessers or Sima. as much as they've been poor at times if any of the others actually contributed something then perhaps their frailties wouldn't be highlighted as much. Again for noone apart from these 3 to be on more than 5 goals is alarming.

it really says a lot when vitprtually every rangers fan believes the keepers been the best player by a mile, while playing v a celtic team that most say isn't as good and aberdeen are awful, our keepers been the best, nit striker, not skipper, nit midfielder, only the keeper, that the reason we find ourselves olaying catch up again.

i also thought he was treated unfairly, never really git the chance to play a few games at striker, he did have a touch of quality, both rangers and celtic have had a few of that type who have gone onto other football nations and been stars.

Think we ultimately played him out of position. Pre season he looked a really good prospect. Unfortunately it just didn't work out for him. I'll agree about the comments about Dessers - if I'm correct, then I think he's already scored more this season than Morelos did in 4 out of his 6 seasons here.

Played out of position, playing in a team that had totally lost confidence and not fancied by the manager or the support. For a confidence player he was doomed to fail. Unless we fundamentally upgrade the quality level, others will go the same way.

He was best player in team in tight situations, clever feet for big fellow but missed chances in games that cost us points, was never going run about flying into tackles so I can see why the No9 spot has seen best in him, we move on and happy he is scoring to get some money in for transfers in summer.

I remember we once signed another Dutch forward who had a very similar experience with us. A certain Mr Van Vossen. Came with a good reputation as a very talented and technically adapt forward, had an awful time with us culminating in ‘that’ miss against Celtic. We sold him back to Feyenoord and he ended up back in the Dutch national team.
It would be interesting to see if Lammers could play as an out and out striker for us next season but unfortunately I don’t think we can take the risk of keeping him and he has another poor season. At least now his stock will be high and we’ll be able to sell him on no problem. He seems that type of player that really suits Dutch football which is slower and more technical and where he’ll get a bit more space and time. He’s not a ‘penalty box finisher’ type of striker, who will sniff out and take half chances in a crowded penalty box or bully defenders and hold the play up for others.
