Probably not doing my credibility any good, but this evening I've had texts and emails from ex-players and prominent fans, and two names suggested to me as a possible new manager were Paolo Vanoli and Rafa Benitez. Make of that what you will, but if Gio is binned then I've no doubt there will be dozens of guesses like this. By the way, nobody suggested Dyche or McInnes or McCann or Thomson!

Wouldn't be excited by either of those names. then again, I was excited by the appointment of Gio, so maybe that's a good thing.

Benitez would want a lot of funds I’m assume we can’t afford

and he would want a sum of money for his services that I don’t think we would pay either?

Tav, I have bet first name.

@John27, is that you saying you’ve got money on Vanoli if I’m reading your last post correctly?

Rafa would be amazing but would need money to spend.

What price did you get vanoli at John27 ?.

John I'm unsure if a Russian cup is enough but he has been around the Italian national team and asst at Chelsea buy not for me. I'd rather we go for some1 like knutson or Dyche.

Bassey1 benitez would absolutely not be a good appointment, a charlatan who throws everyone under the bus but himself. Terrible football to boot. Same with dyche regarding football. Vanoli is extremely well regarded as a coach but unsure about as a manager.

think rafa would be a eye watering prospect

also, there have been times in the past that rangers have had to act after a desperately poor times, when the board, have pulled a out a masterstroke . like le guen . or advocaat, rafa i believe is a very wealthy man who might just be tempted by such an instituition as rangers, he could even be excited by the challenge, he will know exactly how big rangers are, having managed another giant british club, he will know of the potential joy of resurrecting such an institution

this is obviously just my take, and hopes obviously, but this board are heroes and they might just go a step further to restore our place at the top . imo.

Yes aribo I have, along with two others, small bet, big odds, I’d be sick if it happened I’d ignored it,100/ 1 Walter outsider my 3. £10

One Walter I think his cv is reasonable, also worked at inter Milan, Walter I don’t think we want dyche, baggage if he came to us

Bassey I’d cut your hand off for Rafa.

Why do people want rafa? He is historically a terrible manager since leaving Liverpool. Newcastle is a non entity because people say "oh but it was Mike ashley". He relegated a Premier league squad and came back up with them and came what 15th? Steve Bruce was better for them. He killed Everton as well. And well known attitude problems. Would be a diabolical appointment. Once again, a rangers da appointment.

One name that hasn't been mentioned that usually turns up is Rino Gatusso. I know from Family friends that his wife would like to return to Scotland but he is contracted to Valencia until 2024 so there would be a compensation issue there.
One other name mentioned as possible contenders from Italy, (by a close family friend in Tuscany), is Roberto De Zerbi, previously at Shakhtar Donetsk.

Is zerbi not the knew Brighton manager.

De zerbi is Brighton manager and rino has done nothing great as a manager.

John what site you using for the next rangers manager bet? Can’t see any of the main ones offering it.

17.) 06 Nov 2022

He's manager of Brighton for last month.

Berkshire you don't keep up with current affairs do you? De Zerbi is at Brighton.

De Zerbi is three weeks into the Brighton job Berkshire mate.

Thanks John, missed that. It was a few days ago that I spoke with the guy. He is a big Fiorentina Fan and knows Italian Football. He is also close Friends with Gatusso's inlaws. One Walter, what had Souness, Gerrard or even Walter done as a manager before they came to Rangers. Rino certainly wouldn't stand for the lack of fight and poor attitude of a lot of our players.

TJRFC, I don't always keep up to date about Football South of the Border, but perhaps I should have known about the Brighton Job since a lot of the Charities I support are in East Sussex. Only really talked about the Italian guys when I was speaking to a close friend that has a home in Italy Anas well as Glasgow and is a close friend of Rina Gatusso's inlaws.

Conversations on Rangers tend to be when I am in the City and some of my connections there that know my football allegiance share what they know or have heard about the Club and some of those associated with us. Other than my affliction of being a Rangers Fan and some of my eldest sons friends that are ex players I don't get overly involved in Football these days!

john i was called a bigot, simply for saying dyche might not find us his cup of tea, i'm still trying to take that in.

24.) 07 Nov 2022
06 Nov 2022 22:04:25
That's good then because Rangers don't have a manager's position, they have a head coach and a Director of Football.

John has vanoli not just signed for a seria b club ?.
