If Balogun is being brought back the club may as well just let young Lewis Mayo go. I think Mayo will go on to have a very good career in the SPFL and best of luck to him. It's a shame he's not going to get a chance in a Rangers jersey.

I wonder if Maja is still a viable option, money for Danilo might be better spent on a good starting Centre Back if you could get Maja on a free transfer rather than pay circa £5m-£6m for Danilo.
I like Souttar but he's far too injury prone to be relied upon for full season and I'm not overly convinced with Ben Davies.

Balogun will provide good cover incase of injuries once we get the players we want at the back.
As long as we get what we paid for Davies then let him go
Kamara will go but I’d want £5m again.
Wright I just don’t rate so anything for him is a bonus
We have a fair few quid worth of assets that won’t be playing next season
Even if we agree to the buying clubs payin next summer at least we get what we want for players.
Need to trim squad save wages and get maximum value even if it means staggered payments or obligation to buys.

So with king injured it leaves goldson Souttar and Davies. Davies will be sold. Leaves 2 centre backs. With one who can fill in - Dujan Sterling who stated today he’s not a CB. Beale could go out and sign a prospect. But that prospect needs games. He can’t give them a lot of games because king will come back and take over. So we need a stop gap till king is back. Balogun makes perfect and sensible sense ??.

Nizzy i too would prefer Danilo to Maja, it's not a case of thinking who's better, it's a case of getting exactly what we need just now and in the most practicle way.
I think regardless of Balogun coming to replace King or not, we still need centre back quality. We currently have 2 fit CB's (Souttar and Davies) Goldson not back from injury yet. Souttar is injury prone and jury still out on Davies. The need for a quality CB is more than our need for another £5m+ striker.
For instance, as much as i would like Danilo, IF we started the season with Dessers up front and had Colak, Roofe, Sakala, Lammers and Sima all capable of stepping in or playing alongside Dessers, i'd say that was a relatively ok position to be in.
If we start the season with Souttar and Davies as our main central defensive options for the champions league qualifiers, that would worry me a lot. Especially if we then only had Balogun for cover assuming Goldson is not up to speed by then.

I totally accept what your saying with balogun and your not wrong but I think he’s there incase any major problems. There’s a chance he won’t even play many games even if fit. I understand it’s split opinions and I also would rather a fit player than balogun but it’s a stop gap he’s in the door and we know what he is and he knows us. I’m sure the management know what he can and can’t do so if Souttar needs a rest balogun plays and then Souttar comes back in next game just as an example. He’s there just to plug gaps here and there and not to be over used but I do take your point on board mate.

BRRB the message it sends out to Rangers youths is if you want to play for Rangers you have to be better than Mayo and at least as good as Balogan. Clear and precise.
