Reasonable post Sydney, be very disappointed if we dump ofobhor, we have a duty of care.

100% John we shouldn’t just be getting rid of the young boy.

I don’t think Bassey will go either.

Not sure re Bassey in relation to player trading model, if offered in excess 22 million addons sell on he is likely to go.

I’m told. Ofobhor will do full pre season, I. Hope so.

I don’t think Bassey will go mate. Another season will provide the evidence if he is worth a 15+ Million transfer fee. I do think Aribo and Kamara will be sold along with Herlander. We now have Soutar, Goldson, Herlander, Balogun, Katic and of course King. We have 2 for each back position. Midfield we have Jack, Lundstrum, Arfield and Davis with Hagi and hopefully Lowery. So creative midfielder maybe? If Kent and Alfie stay with Wright, Rolfe and Salaka. I think we need another keeper with another wide player and 2 forwards. So spot on around 5-6 players.

Whether bassey stays or goes will depend on what we're offered, if we're offered anything around 20 million imo he's gone, couldn't expect the board to turn down that type of money.

I am hoping that we keep Bassey and extend his contract. I am also hoping that we secure Aribo, Kent and Morelos on new contracts. We need to keep our best players unless we are offered significant monies for them and we need to spend any money received on equal or better quality replacements. (That doesn't necessarily mean big outgoing transfer fees, there are a number of quality players available on Bosmans but they won't come cheap.
I would like to see us sign a quality replacement for McGregor, a new centre back, an attacking midfield player, a striker and a striker. I reckon that we can afford to let Helander go and would like to think that we can offload Simpson and some of our other fringe players and I wouldn't be averse to seeing Roofe moved on if we could get decent money for him.

Bassey for £20 million fits the business model.
Buy cheap, sell high.

Cant see aribo leaving or bassey unless a offer comes in that we can't refuse.
2 strikers, and a right winger is a must this window.

Player sales will happen. Board stated this was coming. If big offers come in then unfortunately i think the board will sell. Danger we have is if we don't sell in the summer then some players can sign pre-contract in Jan then leave for free.

Aribo wants to leave.

Did he say that?

Yes GVB.

02 Jun 2022 16:34:47
I would sell Aribo for £14m with a sell on % - no danger! I like him but I don't think he suits the current system. I think if we have Gio even a quarter of that he could find a great RW who would take our play up a level.

14mil? He has a 10mil release clause.

02 Jun 2022 17:15:45
If we can then hold on to Bassey will bring a lot of options in defence. Definitely a fully fit striker who can give us 20 goals a season. Right side attacker and a box to midfielder. With the addition of the young lads coming through. Please Santa.

Ace that news to me, so Aribo stated he would like to leave?

Where did he say he wants to leave?

Gvb aribo said no such thing.

Someone posted earlier saying that he told the club that he won't sign a new deal, he wants to go back to England.

21.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 17:55:19
Wasn't aware he had a £10m release clause. At that price surprised he hasn't left already. In the mental January windows that's nothing to prem clubs.

22.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 18:33:34
Apparently the release clause only kicked in now that he is in the final year of his contract TrueBlue.

23.) 02 Jun 2022
02 Jun 2022 19:13:52
So you don’t know that he said that then .

24.) 02 Jun 2022

No one on here knows what anyone in the club has said storm.

25.) 02 Jun 2022

But you were seemingly adamant in your post that he said he wants to leave, and are then passing the buck onto someone else.

02 Jun 2022 22:05:23
Well why did you say he wants to leave then ???.

Great analytical post Sydney Ger, I hope Bassey stays, I notice you never mentioned Barisic, I feel he will move on, as I see Bassey as always being 1st choice LB, welcome mate, good stuff.

Great piece covering off the current contract status of all our squad from the boys on the Rangers Review today, completely agree with much that was said

We need a refresh and injection into our squad without changing the first 11 too much

Aribo - (sell £14mil) Last year of contract, does he really suit Gio’s system, he’s not a natural 10 or wide right player, we need a cutting edge and someone who can play that killer pass in that 10 position, someone who can provide that spark and add more assists and goals consistently

Lowry - is that player for me long term who will do that

Hagi - I think given some additional coaching has the potential to absolutely kill the (10) position, he just needs to speed up his transition (defence to attack)

John Fleck - has been mentioned and I would be happy to have him back, £2-3 mil for someone who plays as often as him is a steal, knows our club and would give absolutely everything for the jersey, he would score 10 plus goals a season easy

Billy Gilmour - Although we are well stocked in CDM, either a one year loan, then sign on a Bosman/ high sign on fee or £8-10mil this transfer window, he’s young Scottish and has the potential to be the next Luca Modric, I feel this is one we are seriously looking into

Kamara - (sell £11mil) Would he be a dead cert starter, next season, Jack and Lundstram will be first pick holding CMs, and does he fit a Gio 10 style player (no)

We need 2 attacking midfielders in the door who are true game changers

Bassey - (sell £25mil plus) Simply put, Jan 22, would we have taken £40mil for Nathan Patterson and Calvin Bassey (yes 100%) his stock will never be higher, a young left sided CB, athletic and fast, an absolute steel at £25 mil and I think with add ons we will get close to £30 mil, he is currently being looked at seriously by every top team in Europe

Although disappointing to see players leave, I am so happy to see our club being managed so well, the board have backed this squad for years without selling when selling was the easy option

Maintaining the squad, investing in the squad is now really bearing fruit, as we have so many high value assets

This transfer window will take us to the next level, financial stability and a very strong squad, equiped for SPL and Champions League

Our youth system and recruitment into that system (Ross Wilson’s Southampton Model) is and will be what makes us strong moving forwards.

Ger88 that’s him all over the back it’s so he can say it wasn’t him that got it wrong it’s embarrassing not man enough to admit he got it wrong.
