I don't think it looks great for retaining Gerrard. Whilst he's done a great job (if he does go) I'm not overly worried as I think the club has the right structure and people around it to move forward. Whatever happens, Ross Wilson will have a huge say in the future of the club and I'm quite reassured by that.

Seen as names are being banded about. Would anyone take a punt on big Shota Arveladze? Has done very well by all accounts and knows the club. I'd definitely like to see someone with ties to the club take over the role.

Over the last few days there has been a fair few comments on the lack of spend. Whilst we haven't spent capital, I would hazard a guess our revenue spend has gone up given the addition of fairly high profile and sought after bosmans in Lundstram and Sakala (and perhaps Bacuna to a lesser extent) . Furthermore we haven't sold any of our top talent and locked in Kamara for another few years further enhancing his value. I think the criticism Wilson is getting is completely unfair and I think particularly in this market, where all clubs are struggling financially, keeping a hugely successful squad together is a real show of intent and ambition from the Board.

Good post true blue.

2.) 03 Oct 2021 11:34:11
I agree on the criticism of Wilson only so much he can do with no cash and I think it’s came from SG comments all this criticism which I think it was wrong for SG to say as it can lead to more unrest with the fans also but that’s just my opinion.

3.) 03 Oct 2021 11:35:06
Ed's are off on their tea breaks just now no posts getting on.

Cheers Ed's.

4.) 03 Oct 2021 12:01:06
it’s the manager who has brought it to light it’s him who isn’t happy and wants to spend money he wanted Veernam but didn't get him he’s young his stock is high right now having just won the league and two good runs in Europe but will he stay around if he is not getting the players he wants I know we don’t have money to burn but will the manager stay in that case or is there cracks starting to appear.

5.) 03 Oct 2021 12:25:53
@twacoos - obviously I'd like to see Gerrard and his team stay, especially if we win the league and have Champions League money for them to strengthen. Equally, if Gerrard moves on I think the Club is in a strong position to still move forward - strong youth set up, rejuvenated scouting and marketing departments, and all the decisions makers have the club's best interest at heart. We also have sellable assets for the first time in a long time. I fully understand Gerrard is frustrated but personally I think it has all been blown out of proportion. But maybe I'm an optimist.

6.) 03 Oct 2021 12:38:00
TrueBlue can’t disagree with anything there I was merely pointing out these stories came from Gerrard, I agree on the youth set up snd the B team had a great result yesterday watched it on Rangers TV and yes we have players who can move for big money I’d like Gerrard to stay I’m a big fan but we all knew his heart is in Liverpool and I see Klopp is one of the favourites for the Barcelona job if he would take it not many would right now but maybe a path is being made for Gerrard to take his place I hope not but you never know.

7.) 03 Oct 2021 12:42:55
You could well be right! A period of stability would be nice. Watford have just sacked their manager (that's 16 in 10 seasons) . and whilst I am not saying Gerrard would go to a team of that standard, it shows how ruthless the premiership is and might help SG realise it's downhill after Rangers for most who choose to leave.

8.) 03 Oct 2021 13:49:56
I agree stormtrooper, i felt it was strange SG coming out with these comments as he usually keeps these type of comments within the club. All it has done is for people to question if SG is unhappy with the board. He has had more money to spend than any rangers manager in over a decade.

9.) 03 Oct 2021 14:19:18
Twacoos his stock is high when you get down to the best bones of his time at rangers he has won one trophy in 3 years so I wouldn’t say it’s high but it’s a start and before anyone has a go I ain’t having a go at SG am just stating facts.

10.) 03 Oct 2021 17:07:46
It’s not that strange hendo he’s in his fourth year and his team still ain’t clicking he’s got to blame something.

New to this site but have to say I'm absolutely hooked. Very much appreciate all the rumours and opinions!

For a bit of "fun" on the last day of the transfer window, thought I'd ask the group. if you could sign any ex-ger (in their prime obviously and based on the current need of the team) before the window slams shut - who would it be? So many quality names, but I think we lack of tough tackling midfielder who can break up play, so I'm going for Tugay! The guy was sheer class and could do it all.

1.) 31 Aug 2021 08:00:34
Welcome mate. Good question, for me it would be The Great Dane or Gazza.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 08:13:20
Terry Butcher or Richard Gough.

3.) 31 Aug 2021 08:20:28
Ally McCoist, goals alone from the chances we make would win us most games in SPFL. He also liked the odd Euro goal. Great character as well.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 08:37:20
Davie cooper and Jim Baxter no one could come close to them or us in fact if they were in the team.

5.) 31 Aug 2021 08:39:31
Baxter by a mile.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 08:40:34
Would have to be Gazza one he’s the 🐐 and 2 he’s exactly what we’re lacking a bit if magic 🙌🏻.

7.) 31 Aug 2021 08:41:21
Welcome aboard to the madhouse, TrueBlue85.
I'd go Super Ally.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 08:56:25
Ally for me. A 30 plus goals a season striker would be gold dust right now.

9.) 31 Aug 2021 09:03:36
Barry Ferguson or Gazza.

10.) 31 Aug 2021 09:13:09
Super Ally for me. don't think we'll ever see a goalscorer like him again.

11.) 31 Aug 2021 09:16:41
Not the best player we have had but
what this team needs at the minute is a target man striker to change the tactics up a bit and Mark Hateley would be that man.

12.) 31 Aug 2021 09:17:16
Laudrup for me.

13.) 31 Aug 2021 09:25:25
Brian laudrup.

14.) 31 Aug 2021 09:29:50
Ally wouldn't suit our style. A gazza or fergie is what we're needing.

15.) 31 Aug 2021 09:30:47
So many to choose from but it has to be either Gazza or Baxter although having a top quality leader would also tempt me to go for Butcher or Gough!

16.) 31 Aug 2021 09:36:03
Laudrup is the lord….

17.) 31 Aug 2021 09:37:08
obv would be my all time idol Gazza, however i feel our team need an out n out goalscorer like marco negri before his eye injury. I know he was not prolific for us over a long period but i can't remember anyone banging them in as often as marco negri before he got his eye injury. If i remember correctly his goal scoring ratio was insane. We need a striker like tht in our side and he was definitely in his prime before the injury. Man I'm going to go and have a look on u tube see if i can find a highlights reel. Can just remember him scoring for fun. Hope my memory serves me correct n he never just got the odd one or 2 every other game lol.

18.) 31 Aug 2021 10:02:08
I'm sure negri had 27 goals by Christmas broxi then it went Pete tong!

19.) 31 Aug 2021 10:24:23
Baxter for me.

20.) 31 Aug 2021 10:27:49
Yes he was out injured for quite a while, he got an eye injury playing squash with Amoruso i think it was. He Was Never the same after tht injury. He was out for a bit n i always used to think how many goals would Negri have gotten if tht injury didn't happen. Was insane start up till then, most players are great if they Finnish the season on 27 goals, never mind having 27 by christmas.

21.) 31 Aug 2021 10:36:07
Negri scored enough before christmas to still end up top goal scorer of the league. he was a nightmare to play against. scored for fun. did he not score 5 in a game i think against dundee.

22.) 31 Aug 2021 10:39:49
Michael Mols what a player that was prior to his injury and boy could we use someone like that now.

23.) 31 Aug 2021 11:32:47
Sure i remrmber a game he got 5 geesadodotht 👌.

24.) 31 Aug 2021 11:56:22
Geese yes Dundee utd.

25.) 31 Aug 2021 12:36:36
Jim Baxter.

26.) 31 Aug 2021 13:45:09
Before his eye injury at the hands of a game of squash and a certain Mr Porrini Marco Negri had scored 32 goals by the start of January. What could have been.

John25 - is that competition for Morelos or a replacement do you know? I seem to remember you saying he was in the £5m bracket. so would assume that's with a view to him getting plenty game time.

Is it confirmed? Wait and see I guess. Last week Lowry was 100% away to villa.

I saw this. Apparently wants him for left back. Villa just spent a small fortune on the left back from Everton. I think it's probably just lazy journalism.

From what I have seen of Ferguson I don't really get the fuss. but Gio and his team seem to be able to develop players and improve them. There's a fair few in the squad who have really upped their game and perhaps Gio could elevate Ferguson's game and mould him into a top player?

@John25 - do you think McCann will get game time next season? Or is he more likely to go out on loan?

Unreal! Genuinely thought this was a wind up at first. Sack them all!

Everyone is judging Wilson purely on signings or contract extensions. He extended Morelos and Kamara when neither seemed likely. Short of holding a gun to players heads what can he do? If Goldson or Aribo don't want to extend that's life.

Wilson has improved the scouting network, recruited top quality coaches (as demonstrated by reaching a European final) and has improved the youth set-up. He sold a squad player (Paterson) for record money and barely had a penny to spend.

I hope your boss doesn't read your post on here because you might lose your job for that shocking post.

Very interesting. Could help him hit some consistency. Have to say, read an interview with him earlier in the week and thought he came across really well. On his day he can be a game changer.

I think Goldson goes.

I don't think McGregor or Davis saying.

For me Aribo and Kent both leave. I would imagine we might cash in on Kamara as well.
