I see the evening times are claiming yet another Turkish team (that must be almost every team in the Turkey now) is about to launch a bid for Morelos before their transfer window shuts tomorrow?. What a load of p***. How many times do we have to hear of Turkish teams apparently about to bid for one of our players. And as if we’d let him go now, with no chance to replace and only a few months left on his contract so the ‘offer’ (which of course will never materialise) would be for buttons. Honestly wish these newspapers would just do the decent thing and shut down so that these ‘journalists’ could go and find real jobs.

Thanks for the clarification folks. Based on that then we have quite the issue. Right now there could easily be the case for Davies, Lawrence, Lammers, Roofe and Danilo all being removed (some based on injuries and likely availability) Also in terms of additions you could say: Balogun, definitely. Silva Definitely. Ridvan (or if we bring in a new left back then who ever that may be, esp If Barasic is sold which would make it a priority change) . Dowell even? Possibly.
That’s already too many changes and that’s before considering anyone else we may bring in, suggestions of Dutch winger and another striker. I’d imagine the lure of playing in the last 16 of Europa would be a big selling point for anyone thinking about signing. But if they are then told that they won’t/ can’t be added to the squad, might that affect their decision?

Not sure if anyone knows this for certain? I believe the situation regarding European squad for the rest of the campaign is that we are now allowed to make 3 changes / swaps of personal to the European squad. Does anyone know though if that changes or is amended by us selling any players who are currently in the Euro squad? Ie if we sold and therefore no longer owned a player who was currently in the squad, are we allowed to replace them with say a new signing and then still make 3 other ‘changes’ to the squad or is it just 3 in total no matter what?

Ok so I know the transfer window is close and there will be lots of speculation, but can we please stop mentioning the following 2 names. 1) Van Veen. 2) Morelos.
Van Veen is not coming anywhere near us no matter what the rumour pages try to concoct. Apart from his time at Motherwell his goal record for the rest of his career is around 1 in 5. His name is only being mentioned because he has claimed we ‘gave him a passing glance’ a year ago, when Beale was in charge. Even then we never followed it up in any way. No chance Clement is interested.
And Morelos isn’t coming anywhere near us and thank god! For one, he’s not ‘on a free’. He has a relegation release clause but his club would have to pay him around £2m to activate it, which they of course aren’t interested in doing, so he’s still with them. Yes he was great for us, especially in Europe, for a number of years but let’s be honest, he has done less than nothing for almost 2 years, can’t get himself fit and even when he was doing well for us his on field behaviour was always a massive negative and something that there is no way Clement would entertain. So can we please stop mentioning those names at least.

If we've moved from Van Veen and Morelos to Shankland then I think we are on to a different level of probability. From what I've seen of Shankland this season, he scores goals out of nothing and so would be an immediate improvement on what we have already. Buy him now and he could be at Ibrox for the next 5-years, no problem.

Wow, what a nutter/ chancer Billy Davies is! Trying to make out he was considered for the Rangers job after Beale was sacked?. States in an interview there was ‘contact between Rangers and his agent’, then shifts that to, ‘well my agent spoke to some influential figures at Rangers, but unfortunately it didn’t go any further ’. In other words he told his agent to call up Ibrox and beg for an interview. His agent probably got through to a receptionist who fell off their chair laughing?. Seriously he’s just embarrassing himself.

Miller I’m in my mid forties and just about barely remember him as a player and as you say he is still just trying to milk any connection he once had with us. Sima, the issue I have is that by stating in interviews that he was ‘being considered for the Rangers managers job after Beale was sacked’, some folk will read that, may actually believe it in some way and use it as another ‘stick to beat our board with’. Ie “oh my god, look how incompetent our board are, they were thinking about appointing Billy Davies. When in fact things could not be further from the truth. In fact these exact things were being said by folk on here when the Daily Record mentioned weeks ago that Davies may be a name being considered (more than likely because, just as he did in this interview, he will of tried to make out to them that he was being considered)

Have seen a number of folk whilst happy that we won yesterday, still not happy with a number of player’s performances or the overal team performance. Fair enough, however consider what the Betis fans must be thinking and saying then. Their squad has a World Cup winner, a Euros winner an African cup of nations winner and a couple of champions league winners (one a couple of times) . The squad also cost well over double ours. So I’d say we did not too bad.

I don't like to put our team down, but our passing is atrocious. Beale may have had the tactics under Gerrard but people like gary mac would have made sure the players could pass a ball. We were much better in the second half when we played more simple football. It seems to be that under beale we must only score after 60 passes. Directness doesn't come into it. Hopefully last night can be a building block for further success but we really need to improve big style. We have some good players but they are not sharp and are disjointed in their play. That is down to the manager and coaching staff.

Livi, with regards to the directness of our play. I think the team are trying to play directness with either the use of the long ball and quick passing through the lines. I just think we're not there yet with the flowing combos. But it's clear for me that's what Beale wants, aggressive press and play the game in their half. Just doesn't always work and requires bravery on the ball and smart movement off it.

What people don’t appreciate is that a lot of it comes down to the players .
My observation is possibly beal is a tad to nice behind doors, whereas for a fact ange was throwing things at white board and demanding aggression.

Maybe Michael needs to be a little harder behind doors and demand certain things rather than trusting the players to carry out his will.
Especially in front of the boo boys which must be extremely difficult to take the braver options at times .

Had the result against Celtic been different and killie not happened nobody would be complaining about our performance on Thursday. I missed the game so I can’t comment but every performance is under a microscope now because of the pressure on Beale. As I say I missed it due to work commitments but when I checked the score after I was pleasantly surprised and it has certainly raised my spirits. Don’t think many on here genuinely expected us to win so the fact we came out with 3 points the players and coaching staff should be given credit.

Gresley we already knew we had to cut the squad size. Our wage bill is higher than celtics, how can we be paying more to players that haven’t been good enough to win the league over them, that’s not a good return for your money. We tried to offload more players in the summer as even then we knew the squad was too big, but weren’t able to, so it was always going to be the case that more would probably go this window than would come in, Clement has even suggested that himself. Also just because the noise right now is more about players going out than in, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t on going discussions happening regarding incoming players. There will be lots of on going negotiations for players going both ways, all at the same time. It doesn’t really matter which happen first (just that in the end hopefully the majority of the ones we want to happen do so) .

He was given a 1 year contract extension in the summer but don’t think has really kicked on since then, not really been a regular for the B team, mainly in around the bench. Doubt we would have kept him on come the summer. Imagine it’s a ‘best for all parties’ situation.

Anyone that actually wants Ryan Kent back (it’s not happening by the way) clearly knows nothing about football and can’t of watched us much over the previous 2 seasons. Just look at his career stats. They are completely awful everywhere he has been apart from about 2 seasons with us. Flopped in Germany, flopped at Bristol City, flopped in Turkey and his last 2 seasons with us were terrible. He’s your typical ‘all fart and no ?’ type of player. Dances about with the ball in the middle of the park but does less than nothing with it. He can’t shoot, cross or pass and never lifts his head to see what’s happening around him. Some folk seem to wet themselves over him because he’d turn up occasionally in European games, but ultimately his good performances were far far too few and far between . Just because he kissed the badge and tried to throw a pathetic punch at Scott Brown (instead of actually putting in a performance that might of helped us beat them on occasion) does not mean we should be welcoming him back with open arms and paying him a fortune again to get practically nothing in return.

Couple of issues there. We need as many Scots in our squad as possible as by the summer it’s likely Jack, Scott Wright and Robbie McCrorie will all be away. So even if we bring in McKenna and maybe Connor Barron as is being suggested it wouldn’t be the best idea to let Soutar go. Also as has been mentioned it’s not very likely that 1) Soutar will want to go back to Hearts, not just because he has more chance of winning trophies and playing in Europe with us but also because he’d have to vastly drop his wages and 2) it’s not likely Hearts would want Soutar when they don’t need a CB and the wages they would have to try to offer would be way more than any other player they have is on.
Unfortunately this isn’t champ manager where we can just suggest throwing in a player we may not want to try to pay less money. Transfers are very complicated matters as they are, trying to arrange one involving a player swap is even more complicated and hardly ever really happens that much anymore.

Ok so he’s scoring loads of goals in a Wrexham team who have clearly been much better than all their opponents for the last few years due to the level of players they can attract. However Steven Fletcher also just scored a hatrick for them the other night so should we sign him as well? I’m not saying he’s a bad player or anything but he has been scoring at National league and league 2 level. He may well do a job but it’s irrelevant as one of the main reasons he signed for Wrexham was to be close to all his family so highly unlikely he’d want to go anywhere.

Its total nonsense based on an interview the player himself supposedly did (one where I’m guessing he was surely taking the p.) where he claimed Rangers wanted to sign him last year and we still do but he chose not to sign for us and that he is a hero in Scotland and that he got mobbed everywhere he went.
