Not saying that’s the answer to everything, but the snobbery on players from our own league catches up with us.

Hindsight is great but I would have taken all of the Scottish players apart from Porteous. Would’ve loved us to have went for Doig. People’s reasons for not is always that Scottish teams will play hardball with us but when you look at the amount of time it took for us to get deals done on some players like Dessers then other teams are as well.

Do they thrive playing against a team with 10 players behind the ball?

For me we missed an opportunity with Ferguson but not sure he would have been given the game time with us to allow his development. Most people on here said he was not good enough.

Timing is important too because at the time when Ferguson was linked, we were fine in midfield with Kamara, Aribo, Jack, Davis and Lundstram who were performing better as well, the consensus was then that where would he play and the club and a lot our support thought he was not an improvement on what we had.

You cannot compare Beale to McCoist. MccCoist put absolutely no effort into being the Rangers manager. He is guilty of not trying, and just treating the job as a cash grab. The man is a total disgrace.

When we were in Division 3 Charles Green and the rest of them needed a front man to go and tell the fans to buy STs. McCoist was that man, bought and paid for with £2m of shares, and a ridiculous wage that even McCoist was embarrassed by when it became public knowledge.

Should McCoist have tried to build a young and exciting team to work up the leagues with? Absolutely. As soon as it became clear he wasn’t going to do that it knocked the wind out of every fan attending those games. It took years to get rid of him. I will never forgive that man. It’s his fault we were in the lower league a year longer than we should have been. He couldn’t even outspend everybody to get promoted out of the Scottish Championship he was such an incompetent coach.

Different story once they have gained more experience with their clubs before getting moves abroad etc.
I still think some aren’t good enough.

There's an old saying in football, 'if you are good enough then you are old enough'. McCoist was 20 when he joined Rangers and look at his record for the club. Denis Law was 16 when he made his professional debut for Huddersfield Town. Gazza was 18 when he first joined Newcastle United. What is the point of having a youth system when you never, ever give the kids a chance. I'd much rather see two or three of our youngsters given a chance than sign Dessers, Lessers, Samia or whoever. Will we never learn? McCoist was given an impossible task when he became manager. Sure, he was paid a lot of money. How much is Beale being paid?

I would have taken them all bar nesbitt boy is injury prone. We should have bought Ferguson at the time it was a no brainer but some of the snobbery on here didn’t want him. Our midfield wasn’t on at the time as you always want better players in every position if you can get them.

We’ll have to sign some soon or produce our own in order to get the correct numbers into our European Squads,

Had Porteous been on a long contract with Hibs they would have wanted £1m-£2m. When he was available for free on a pre-contract that was a bargain. Has his value gone up since joining Watford? Absolutely. He is now a full internationalist putting in performances for club and country. He’s a great age for a CB, no real history of injuries, plenty of resale value there.

Watford would want at least £5m for him now.

Just because McCoist was out of his depth as the manager - in a horrific situation - doesn't mean he was in it just for a 'cash grab'. He'd have been getting advice from plenty of more experienced people connected to the club including Walter, but in the end it didn't work out. To slate a legend like that is ridiculous in my opinion.
