Not at game, but listening on radio, whole game seemed to be wave after wave of fast Hearts attacks that we struggled to cope with. Our midfielders seemed anonymous and from comments I just can't fathom how Gassama gets to start games, although I think he could be an impact sub late on if we are winning? Was three subs at 84 minutes too late, and desperate? We seem to have lost something in our play since the international break.

Josh McPake looked the best player on the park and gave Dujon Sterling a torrid time and there's not many been able to do that to Sterling this season 🤔🇬🇧.

A point rescued is the most positive I can be about last night. The type of game we would have dropped points in previous seasons but McInnes has instilled a fighting mentality right until the end.
It was still a missed opportunity with Celtic dropping points at home.
But, when you have most players off their game, then it was always going to be difficult.
Fernandez, Sterling, Neil, Gassama & Min Su were woeful.


The rest were average at best.
Tactically? Haven't a clue.
We went long, which is fine if one of your 2 strikers are winning the ball and the other is latching on.
But we hardly won a second ball which then created the issue of Hearts being able to attack at will.
And young Curtis did more in a 6 minute cameo than Min Su, & Gassama combined.
Onwards and upwards to the semi-final. 🔴⚪🔵.

I also thought that about Curtis MPH, but according to some he was playing against tired players and nothing to do with his ability, go figure, so subs aren't allowed to be used to capitalise on tired player anymore, go figure.

Curtis did more in ten minutes than minsu, so many on here think we have a right to win last night predicting scores like 3-0 or 4-0

I did point out they have not lost in the league at home in 18 months.

A point at Tynecastle is not a disaster, imo we needed an extra midfielder and not start either Gassama or minsu.

Can't believe no one commenting on minsu selling a goal, far too weak in that type of game, but he should learn

Now on to a must win game which will be a real battle.

Hearts had four forwards and two cm's, big difference was Hearts forwards were dropping deeper when required.

If we continue to start Gassama up front on a regular basis our chance of a title will be gone by Christmas 😫 - he brings nothing to our team and has been an empty jersey for many weeks. I am sorry to say as soon as I saw the team last night I felt we were a man down at start and for all first half my opinion never changed. Minsu was poor also, therefore our creativity was low from wider areas until subs second half.
Both Curtis and Bouanani created more in limited time than Gassama did for 50 odd minutes - didn't like Bouanani jumping away from tackle 💩but his quick delivery to dangerous areas is basically what we are missing from Gassama and to be fair Curtis was direct too.

These lads (including Minsu) should be starting every week in front of Gassama IMHO - Del must see something in training but the lad is not bringing it to the pitch on regular basis!

He was anonymous last night - as were others - and got hooked. His numbers need to improve but to say he's been an empty jersey for weeks is possibly a bit strong. At least we have options and he can be "rested".

For a kick off Blue-Floyd3, derek McInnes started the wrong team for me as minsu should have been on the left from the start and bouanani should have started on the right with Gassama starting on the bench 🤔 But McInnes could have rectified this much quicker as we all could see we were getting overrun in the midfield and minsu absolutely had his poorest game in a Rangers jersey but absolutely wasn't the only one 🤔I thought like i'm sure the majority of us did that big makhanya was by a mile our best player and the only one above pass marks 🤔 Our midfield was nowhere to be seen non existent 😡 We're very lucky to be coming down the mate with a point, although it was a terrific header from makhanya to get us that point 👌🇬🇧.

Not good at all - though should have won it at the end - most players poor but Fernandez and Gassama took it to another level - needs to be better - in fact Makanya was good but one of the only players with pass marks 🇬🇧.

Never saw the game last night due to work but by all accounts we played poor but still secured a point at a hard ground, we can't win them all. What's concerning me though is the talk of Gassama and although he has talent I'm not seeing any major improvements yet in his delivery into the box or his shooting.

Apparently Drago is not getting into team due to him needing 1-2-1 management to improve his play so what i'm asking is should Gassama be given the same treatment?

To be fair, for most of this sesson Hearts have played with an aggressively high defensive line, so given Buonani's fitness issues starting Gassama made sense.

Unfortunately though, Hearts didn't play that way. Instead they copied the blueprint from Kilmarnock, sat deep, deliberately stretched the game, used McPake and Miller to pin us back on our right hand side and dominated the second ball.

Also, everyone at Rangers knows that when Sterling plays midweek and weekends the drop off is significant - correction, everyone in Scottish football knows it, except many on this forum.

It appears that ugly old fashioned football is the downfall of our ugly old fashioned 442.

EHL I 100% agree with you regarding Sterling. But can I ask you said everyone at Rangers knows if he plays 2 games in a week the drop off is significant then why did he play both games especially when we have the boy from Aston Villa on the bench fit and ready to play?

To be fair to Sterling EHL, he's been superb in the majority of our games although like the majority poor last night 🤔Josh McPake gave him a torrid time and not many left wingers can say that against Sterling this season 🤔 So sorry EHL no drop off from Sterling i've seen although as i stated was poor last night 🤔🇬🇧.

Like lots have already said, we stole a point last night and can consider ourselves very lucky. Question is, will Del finally see what most fans do regarding Fernandez and take him out of the team for a spell? He is, in my opinion, one of the main sources of a lot of our problems.

So many times he allows the ball to bounce rather than head it away from goal or he gets beaten in a physical duel which for a man of his size is ridiculous.

Well we were lucky to get a point tonight. Midfield non existent. Fernandez a bomb scare. Anyone else worried by the lack of experience and older heads in the team. Just see a team of young men but no older experienced heads to help us out.

I would give Godfrey his opportunity in place of Fernandez.
Change back boanani for Gassama with minsu off the left.
We were second best last night for sure but should have won it in the end.
We have got away with one with them dropping also.

Until changes we struggled to get our wingers on the ball where we needed them to be on it and dare I say it as I love penrice, Rommens sub was an improvement.

Will take the point all day long after tonight's performance, some of which was pretty worrying.
Gassama as poor as I've seen him
Minsu lost the ball pretty much every time he touched it and sold the 2nd
Fernandez, same as Gassama. Apart from being very poor defensively, I lost count of how many times he played the ball out of the park.
Sterling will be having nightmares about Josh McPake for years to come.
Raskin anonymous after the early booking and Neil posted missing.

To have so many underperformers at Tynecastle and still leave with a point is something to be content with but that's pretty much where it starts and ends.

Re the Sterling chance, if it goes in it doesn't count anyhow as it comes off his arm. Needs to be putting his head on it, sitter.

Hopefully that's the awful performance out the way and we go into the semi final on sat a different side.

What I would say, if I had been offered the chance to stay 4 points behind Celtic before the matches had kicked off i would have taken that outcome tonight with the difficulty of our game.


We've now played Celtic and Hearts away, let's see what our position in the league is after all teams have played each other home and away.
Of course I'm disappointed tonight but there's a bigger picture.

The difficulty of our game CO2? Hearts got scuffed off that mob 7-1. I fully expected us to beat Hearts tonight. It's a bit like every season again. They slip up, but somehow so do we. Every time.
