31 Aug 2026 18:46:44
Mark Walters is the best indoor small sided player I've ever seen in a Rangers jersey and another who was very good was Robert Prytz.

31 Aug 2026 19:28:04
@Rwn,

Signs I'm definitely going Senile as my instant reaction to your line up was "Why ask for 9 when you've listed 10 players yourself, and who the fleck is Outfield?" πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ€£

Anything other than Kelsy happening? Seems very quiet today. Especially with out going's.

99% of stuff will be behind scenes tbh. Next 2.5 going to be busy overall, I suspect.

Blue89 am certainly no a Tim been on the page for years wouldn't let me log back in to my old profile so a thought a would give our new signing a bit love hence the user name.

31 Aug 2026 14:37:29
What was your previous name, Kim?

31 Aug 2026 14:40:51
I'm just at the wind up, Kim. Boy looks a player!

31 Aug 2026 12:46:21
I was surprised that Drago didn't get on yesterday but the result meant that Derek just about got it right. With Minsu looking the part, Aasgaard must be fearing for his place.I think at home our best formation at the moment would be Shankland up front with Gassama and Yokota either side and a midfield of Neil, Drago and Minsu.Devlin probably will feature more away from home where we need to scrap and tackle more than we do at home.

Agree4 Disagree0

31 Aug 2026 14:57:02
Thought Devlin was close to being sent off yesterday. I thought they could have brought Barron on for him after his booking, but fair play to Devlin for having the discipline to stay on the park.

31 Aug 2026 15:05:02
Min Su gives you something in that position that no one else does. Think more chance to play in the no 10 second striker roll away from home with more space to run into. Two sitting midfielders with three ball carriers in front with one in front could be an exciting formation as long as the three carriers work hard out of position.

A Cerny on the right would great but looks unlikely.

31 Aug 2026 15:10:00
Aasgaard should have been fearing for his place for over a year now. Shame really, as he has bags of talent but is sadly lacking in effort or maybe just the way he plays as some suggest?

31 Aug 2026 10:11:58
With the big 5 leagues transfer windows closing tomorrow I expect to see movement over the next 36ish hours or at least strong rumours breaking.

Maybe a few clubs need to move some pieces before we see the likes of Raskin move on.

If no bids arrive I'd hope Raskin is back in the squad for Wednesday.

Agree7 Disagree0

31 Aug 2026 10:21:54
I hope Raskin stays tbh. Give him a new deal and the armband. Unless it's a straight swap or near to it for Lewis Ferg.

31 Aug 2026 10:27:11
Why would any manager change the captain within the same season? I'm not sure what that would achieve without creating a divide in the squad and an unhappy player. I don't agree with that in any way whatsoever.

31 Aug 2026 10:28:39
If Raskin is still our player at the end of the window, he has to be played or at least on the bench.

31 Aug 2026 10:45:38
Wouldn't think it would / should affect the players, Dado.
As off the top of my head, I'm sure Sterling, Godfrey, Raskin, Neil, and Shankland have all been appointed captains during matches from Pre-season games up until now.
Stuart McCall famously said that during 9IAR, Rangers had leaders all over the park.

31 Aug 2026 11:04:56
I agree with Dado. If Raskin had said he didn't want to leave, signed a new deal, he was the obvious choice, but just don't think you give someone captaincy then take it back off them for someone that was half out the door that didn't get the move they wanted.

31 Aug 2026 11:15:47
Sorry, Mr P, is Shankland not our official club captain? I can't imagine a situation where we get the best out of him after having the capacity stripped from him for a player who looked like he was leaving.

We appear to get more leadership from Drago than Raskin. I've never seen the behaviours expected from a captain in Raskin.

31 Aug 2026 11:36:05
Let's be honest, if Raskin stays he's going to be captain more often than not, as Kelsey will start most games as striker, so need to cause a rift by stripping Shankland.

31 Aug 2026 11:43:42
I think Raskin would thrive as Rangers cpt. Shankland is a good goal scorer, but I feel he would be better off focusing on scoring goals rather than leading the team.

It was my main issue with Tav. Let him do what he's good at. Neither are great cpts, but good at their role in the team. Capt needs to be in the middle of the park imo.

31 Aug 2026 11:45:29
I don't think Shankland needs to be stripped of captaincy. If he plays, he is captain; if not, and Raskin stays/plays, then he 'may' wear it.

Here is the key thing: Raskin wants a move, so if not now it could be Jan or next summer.

So we will be back right here talking about whether he should be captain. You don't need to have an armband to be a leader on the park.

31 Aug 2026 12:54:46
Shankland is Club captain, which might be a wider role. Only a small part is on the pitch, although possibly most important. So he is there to be the conduit between manager and players, set expectations with players, etc.

If any player has to spend their 90 minutes telling others what is expected and how to play, they would all struggle to perform at all, so, on the optics, what he can achieve there is limited.

He is there to do his job, which he did better yesterday and by doing that let other players see they are expected to do the same.

31 Aug 2026 13:07:20
He might be the official club captain, Dado.
But he hasn't been a regular pick up until now, and if we sign Kelsy, then he will definitely not be first pick.
Not sure players can look up to or be inspired by a player that can't get in the first team?

31 Aug 2026 13:19:35
Years ago Walter took the captaincy off Brian Laudrup, with his full agreement I should add, because he was finding it too much of a burden. I think he gave it back to the returning Richard Gough, but I could be mistaken. If Raskin stays, make him team captain and Shankland club captain, just based on the amount of game time he has.

We don't have to make a big thing of it and "strip" him of it, just speak to the players involved and get their buy in. The media will make a big deal of it for a couple of days, but as long as the players are cool with it, who cares.

31 Aug 2026 13:21:51
I think changing the captain would cause more friction than solutions, mate. I stand by the statement of I'm not sure what Raskin has done to merit the arm band and I've seen more leadership on Drago's short time here than Raskin's years.

Let's see what happens, mate.

31 Aug 2026 13:30:11
Regardless of what any of us think about who should be captain, Steven Gerrard (picked Tavernier) and Derek McInnes (Shankland) are far better qualified than I am to decide who is a good captain for Rangers and who isn't.

Shankland stepping up to rattle that pressure penalty right into the top corner - after the amount of stick he's had this month and the embarrassment of midweek - shows the kind of stuff he's made of, in my opinion.

31 Aug 2026 13:53:47
Dado, n we certainly ain't getting the best of him with the captaincy either.

31 Aug 2026 14:06:53
8Gazza, give him chances, we'll see the best of him, mate, he's proven this time and again. Many were praising Hogh on here, Shanks has one less, I know both were penalties, but they still count.

Having watched Hogh closely, his hold up play isn't great imo, not saying Shanks has been, but not sure why one is being praised and one is getting tight from a huge majority. πŸ€”

31 Aug 2026 14:26:34
Wee counter to the change captain debate, why sign a 310m pound striker who will be starting majority of the games and leave the captain on the bench?

If Raskin does stay and signs a new deal, he should be captain. Been here longer and midfielders make for better captains than a bench captain.

31 Aug 2026 14:27:55
You know my thoughts on Shankland, BoyBlue.
But if he scores the goals (which all strikers should be judged on) and as captain leads us to titles and cups, I won't be shy in holding my hands up that I was wrong.
I've yet to be convinced on the evidence so far.
But what I will say in his defence, even just on yesterday's showing, he certainly finds himself in the right positions most of the time and I think it was Gassama (??) who blasted over when Shankland was in acres of space to be slipped in during the second half.

Oh, and who didn't love his smile when Aberdeen's goal was ruled out by VAR. 🀣

31 Aug 2026 14:40:20
I lived the chant from the crowd, MrP. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Gazza, he's been in and out of a poor Rangers team. I'm not saying this is the case, because truthfully, I've no idea, but he does look like he's been doing extra training to sharpen up and perhaps lose some weight?

I think there's more to come from him.

31 Aug 2026 15:08:23
Noticed that Potato, think he was having a wee dig at Nesbit, made me laugh.

31 Aug 2026 15:55:09
Shankland doesn't even start most games. and its not like there's a top class striker keeping him out the team. its Naderi (lad from 3rd tier somewhere lol)

Unfortunately there is no REAL captain at the club and hasn't been for a long time.

31 Aug 2026 09:50:23
Seen this on X.
Thought, he had a decent game yesterday but for an unnecessary booking.
When u see his stats it might have been a bit better than decent.

CAMMY DEVLIN APPRECIATION POST πŸ‘πŸ”΅

Thought Devlin was excellent at Aberdeen and exactly the type of midfield performance Rangers have been missing.

90 minutes
7.4 rating
78 touches
52/61 passes β€” 85%
2 key passes
8 defensive contributions
8 recoveries
2 interceptions
3 clearances
1 blocked shot
5/10 ground duels won
2/2 aerial duels won
0 times dribbled past

Nothing flashy, just constantly involved. Getting on the ball, keeping it moving and doing the dirty work when Rangers didn't have it.

The heatmap probably tells the story best he was just everywhere. πŸ˜‚

We've badly needed a midfielder willing to get stuck in, compete and give us a bit of bite.

More of that from Cammy Devlin please. πŸ‘πŸ”΅βšͺοΈπŸ”΄

Agree22 Disagree0

31 Aug 2026 10:01:31
They are the kind of games Devlin will excel in, when the game needs to be a battle. Games at Ibrox against the St Mirren, St Johnstones etc, we need a more forward thinking CM.

31 Aug 2026 10:28:01
Once the wee man settles in he will be a vital squad member, love the fight in the fella.

31 Aug 2026 10:28:16
Thought he was excellent other than that stupid yellow card. Don't expect him to play week in and week out, but those types of games he will excel.

31 Aug 2026 10:34:08
There was no need for him to make that challenge away out there, I don't think. Just run him to the by line.

31 Aug 2026 10:36:19
Agree, Wishy.

31 Aug 2026 10:46:09
Devlin was brought in to play a certain role as a squad player, he done just that yesterday, thought he done well, fought and chased everything, fair play after the disappointing sending off.

Like another poster alluded to, games we want flair and creativity he won't be used as much but protecting a leaf d or in to shake up games he will be a great signing for us.

31 Aug 2026 11:10:15
Devlin also looked the most vocal player on the pitch.

31 Aug 2026 11:26:34
Cudos to McInnes for taking Drago out and playing Devlin. Devlin much more suited for this style of match. At Ibrox we'll see Drago.

31 Aug 2026 11:31:44
I thought he was decent in first half. He was actually the one progressing the ball through the lines most.

Recoveries are all well and good, but at least 2/3 of those was when he had the ball took off of him and he then went and won the ball back, which is a positive off the back of a negative.

Think we need to give him credit when it's due. I want better players in there, but we can't just beat players like Devlin and Gassama up because we don't rate them when they aren't actually having horrendous games.

31 Aug 2026 11:37:45
Borna, you're right. I'll also add that Drago is only 20 and needs to be protected, as he'll be inconsistent. Just need to make sure we protect him and manage him well.

31 Aug 2026 12:25:00
Also for me Cammy Devlin needed in our midfield at Celtic Park to battle and help win the fight in there because we all know he'll battle like hell. πŸ₯Š Of course he'll need to watch not go to over the top. πŸ€”πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

31 Aug 2026 13:24:53
I don't rate Devlin, but I have to admit I thought he did what was needed yesterday. He made tackles, committed fouls when needed, and shielded the back four. Interesting, somebody said that a few times he had to go and win the ball back because he had given it away, that's the down side I suppose.

I think on his booking he thought the guy had the pace to run past him onto the ball, and though he was out wide, Devlin had no idea what was happening in the middle so he took one for the team, knowing that out that wide it wouldn't be deemed as a DOGSO.

31 Aug 2026 13:28:45
Games against Celtic and Aberdeen will never be pretty. We need players such as Devlin for these games. In your face, non stop aggressive play. That's what he's there for. Appreciate his dig!

31 Aug 2026 14:38:23
When Devlin was making that tackle, he never knew the Aberdeen player was going to take a bad touch. Don't have any problems with his decision, actually glad seeing it.

31 Aug 2026 15:06:42
50% of winning ground duels for a player who's strength is supposedly breaking up play is pretty poor.
Though at 5ft nothing, winning 100% of aerial duels is astounding. πŸ‘

31 Aug 2026 09:50:19
Final few days of transfer window, how many in and how many do my fellow posters think will depart? Although I'm not keen on huge turnover of players each season I think there may be 3 incoming and 4 outgoing. Thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2026 10:35:06
There definitely needs to be outgoings as the squad is bloated. Get 5 or 6 out and maybe a couple in.

31 Aug 2026 11:38:50
I think Souttar and Cameron will go on deadline day, as they'll end up accepting whatever they can get at that point. As time passes by, I'm less certain that Raskin will leave. I think Manny will still be here, and I don't think we'll sell Gassama with the way he's been playing unless we get silly money.
Unsure on Barron as well.

31 Aug 2026 12:01:40
We need 5-10 players out. However, I only see 2-3 max. 2 days left and no real signs of concrete bids. The thing that worries me is that if it is a player who needs replacing, our recruitment would struggle to conclude by the end of the window. It takes them too long. I may be wrong, but it appears that they are stuck in 1st gear, whether it's identifying players and agreeing a deal, arranging visas, sending someone for a medical, getting them registered, getting them on a plane.

As I say, I could be wrong, but the pace appears to be poor.

I don't know the inner workings, but that is the impression that the window has given me. 🐌

Clearly, if it were surplus players like Souttar, McCausland, Nisala, Cameron, Barron, Mio, and Raskin (πŸ’·), they wouldn't necessarily be replaced anyway.

If it were Rommens, Aassgaard, Fernandez, or Gassama, we might struggle to replace them. ⏱️

31 Aug 2026 13:06:22
Too late a stage now to get up to 10 players out. Never happening.

31 Aug 2026 13:28:58
If you discount Raskin and Barron and Miovski, we are using a squad of around 22 players (I'm prematurely including Kelsy). If the three go, and the guys like Souttar, Cameron, Nsiala and McCausland too, then I would say that we are still maybe a couple short of the size of squad we would need even without European football.

I think we will sign a couple but they will be loans and maybe not with options to buy.

31 Aug 2026 13:46:44
We have been constantly told on here at least 8 outgoing!!
I await with interest to see if any are sold, or will they be loaned out for peanuts.
