Probably an unpopular opinion but with 15 goals in 40 odd games in his first season, I'd be keeping Chermiti. I can see him getting 20+ goals next year.

Agree17 Disagree0

17 May 2026 11:39:55
Think most of the squad are available and just waiting on the club's value being met.

17 May 2026 13:52:33
Chermiti has improved so much this season, and should get even better, I wouldn't be letting him go anywhere.

17 May 2026 09:32:45
If we are saying the leadership team within the players is shocking then we should do what PSG did and get rid of all of them. Re start with players who will follow sir Walters mantra. Unless that happens nothing will change. Get rid of the following and not all are in this leadership group.

Butland
Souttar
Gassama
Miovski
Bajrami
Raskin
Antman

Apart from Moore no other loan player should ever return.

Agree5 Disagree0

17 May 2026 10:46:46
What is Sir Walters mantra?

17 May 2026 11:08:00
And are we just ignoring the leadership group 'mantra' and getting rid of players you don't like? Or are there reasons that you know of where these players are causing issues, like the leadership group? Just seems a random set of players in the main otherwise.

17 May 2026 11:08:31
Locher77, The Mantra was "Find a way to win" also, "Do not enter unless you are ready to put yourself second - and that should be the one and only time second is good enough for you."

17 May 2026 11:21:20
It's times like now you realise how special Walter Smith was, a true Legend.

17 May 2026 11:34:13
Locher77
Very true, my friend, unfortunately they don't make them like they used to.

17 May 2026 09:23:01
With guys on this forum happy to accept £15M for Chermiti.

I was just wondering if guys on here who know more about European football - Wouldn't Chermiti be ranked pretty highly in the best u21 strikers in Europe atm?

If so why are we wanting rid of someone whose stock has gone up but we're only looking to make £2-3M profit?

Seems crazy to me.

Even if he wants to go (and I wouldn't blame him), I would be starting the bidding at £30M.

This might seem mad but remember we paid £11M for him and he hadn't scored a goal!

Surely his stock has went up massively since then???

Agree10 Disagree0

17 May 2026 09:42:08
Agreed, mate. What a striker he can be. 👍

17 May 2026 10:09:23
We didn't pay £11m, it was £8m with add ons, and I'd guess most of them haven't yet been achieved, so £15m would be almost doubling our money. I do think it would be too little though, however £30m is unrealistic. I'm guessing any bids upwards of £20m and good chance he'd be off.

17 May 2026 10:14:33
So you are effectively saying he is not for sale. Starting the bidding at £30m, deary me.

17 May 2026 10:51:26
Let's say a Porto did offer between 15-20m. Would a Portuguese player with aspirations of playing for Portugal want to stay? Would it affect him negatively if we asked for 30m and blocked his move? Slap a sell-on clause on his back and wish him all the best.

If we can double our outlay and benefit from a future sale, sometimes it's best for everyone concerned to sell a player when he is hot than when he is not.

17 May 2026 11:02:07
He'll only get hotter though, Robert. Some need to remember this is Chermiti's first proper season.

17 May 2026 11:33:04
My star and it's in the SPL against Falkirk etc. Young and improving, but let's be honest about the level. He is still a project player, and anything between 15-20 is a good deal. He.

17 May 2026 11:34:58
So we sell for £15M - by what Gers78 quoted, we get approx £7M profit.

Minus 20% to Everton (£1.4M). Minus fees to player and agents.

What we left with, about £3-4M profit?

On a player whose stock has sharply risen - it seems absolutely mad to me.

I get the sell on clause aspect - but, let's be honest, it hasn't worked for us so far with Patterson, Aribo and Bassey - how much did we get? Zero!

Like I said - for one of the highest profile U21 strikers I'd be asking for serious money.

Porto are looking to sell a Spanish U21 striker for £70M btw!

Final point - if he played for Celtic, how much would they sell him for?

17 May 2026 11:43:58
Totally hear you, My Star. We can condense his first season into the final 5 months. His confidence has grown, and with better players around him he could be a star next season. No guarantees in football, though an ACL tear can happen when you least expect it.

17 May 2026 11:54:21
If that mob rate guys like Engels 30 mill, no way are we selling Chermiti for 15.

17 May 2026 11:54:43
Windy, selling Chermiti for 15m would be utter madness, but that won't happen anyway.

17 May 2026 12:32:53
You have to take into account we overpaid players to get them here tho. Eg we paid 2-3 times market price for Naderi. Can we expect others to just do the same? Portuguese clubs linked aren't paying £20-30m on players.

Look at their record transfers. PSR is hammering all but the best in England, so who is going to pay that for him. I hope I'm not wrong, but can't see those types of fees for any of our players.

17 May 2026 12:36:52
Windy, I totally agree with My star. 👍 We won't sell Chermiti for anything less than £20million.
The boy is very talented, and will only get better. He has superb feet, very fast feet, and superb control of a football.

👌 Some of the goals he's scored just shows how talented he is, and like I said earlier, if he starts scoring the easier chances he'll be the complete striker capable of playing in any of Europe's top leagues. 🤔 🇬🇧

17 May 2026 15:51:40
Everton have a 20% sell on clause on Chermiti. The bidding starts at £20 million.

17 May 2026 08:53:14
I think we should do a Marseille and transfer list every player and offer multi-purchase deals.

Lol, buy Butland and get Miosvski half price.

Agree12 Disagree0

17 May 2026 09:29:31
That's certainly an interesting idea. 🤣

17 May 2026 09:53:09
Start the bidding at a whopping £5. £6 going once, going twice, sold to the poverty club in the back!

17 May 2026 10:26:33
That's nuts that Marseille did that, Ehl. Was that when De Zerbi was manager?

17 May 2026 10:15:08
Ehl, what's your opinion on the "clearout". I always read or hear that it's not the best idea to move out and bring in too many players in one go and usually i agree with that, but i feel it might actually be necessary for Rangers.

Reason 1. We are set to lose a few players anyway due to contracts or loans ending.

Reason 2. Getting rid of a certain "group" who imo have a negative influence on the team morale.

How would you approach it personally mate?

17 May 2026 10:41:21
TBH is not a bad idea. 😁 Sometimes I think we play hard ball when we shouldn't and vice versa. We need to get that sorted. Bogof sounds like a plan. 😁

17 May 2026 11:10:31
Der Hammer, they failed to qualify for the UCL and are in desperate need of funds ahead of the 30th June - so have listed the full squad.

Manicblu, it's desperately needed. We have around 38 players in our squad, which is completely ridiculous as it reduces the competitive drive within the group and it chokes the youth pathway.

17 May 2026 11:32:48
Take them all down the Polmadie, sure it opens till 5.

17 May 2026 11:34:57
EHL, agree mate. It is absolutely mental.

17 May 2026 12:57:51
TJBB, the dump or car boot sale?

17 May 2026 13:54:09
Thanks for the response mate. I did not realise it was that many, do you or anyone else know how many we/DR are hoping to have as a squad? I know this varies between managers. But isn't roughly 24ish the average? Its a big job regardless, imo it would make even more sense to be looking to our own league for some of our signings

17 May 2026 06:49:59
Would it be easier to get mcinnes now now that league is lost?
Or will he want to try again with Hearts

Reckon easier as the chance is by Hearts now imo.

Agree2 Disagree0

17 May 2026 09:19:40
Struggling to see interest from either party. We have a good manager at the helm already, thankfully, he'll be backed to achieve success.

17 May 2026 09:21:32
Why would he want to come to Rangers? Plus, DR is backed by Cavanagh? No?

17 May 2026 09:21:33
I think Hearts will be miles off it next season.

17 May 2026 09:30:28
With dr, I think Rangers will be too.

17 May 2026 09:41:41
Who's the good manager at the helm? The head coach who just lost 4 in a row?

17 May 2026 09:54:58
Maybe we should wait and see if he can keep this up first, as he did the same with the sheep. He had a great season, then was pure Jimmy White and sacked, so let's not all be going on like he is a messiah or the next big man to take the Rangers job.

Has to prove he deserves it first!

17 May 2026 10:58:51
All the talking stops and the action now starts. Timeline for improvement has started. Therefore, I'm not going to talk about managers. I want to discuss players. The reason is I am a firm believer in the following.

At the high end of sport, athletes should need very small guidance.

They all have coaches, but they give feedback, not coach. They set up formations, but if players can't see or resolve on pitch issues themselves, then they are not taking accountability. That's what we need. 👍

17 May 2026 12:02:17
BBJ, what had Rohl done to deserve the job?

McInnes is streets ahead of Rohl in pedigree as a head coach.

Having said that, I do not want to get rid of Rohl.

If he's 100% committed, then he should be allowed to continue imo.

17 May 2026 13:44:27
Absolutely nothing, Marco, and look where we are currently.

I'm just so tired of this nonsense around McInnes as if he is some great manager/coach. The same guy that got sacked from the sheep and has had a good year with Hearts, granted he was lucky both of clubs were miles off it.

So this talk of why would he even come to us etc. It's not like he is Fergie mk II.

17 May 2026 00:34:42
Possibly going to Austria for pre season? Does anyone know if they have a Murder hill equivalent there?

Agree2 Disagree0

17 May 2026 00:17:34
I'm hurting as much as all of you but having had a few hours to calm down and reflect, a few thoughts for me.

1. Rohl has to go. He has failed every major test.

2. Gerrard would be a shocking mistake of an appointment. There's nothing to suggest he would be a success and the romance of 55 is nothing but a smokescreen.

3. We have two, maybe three players worth keeping.

4. Cavenagh has next season to get things right or will face a ferocious backlash from the supporters.

5. Hearts won't win a league in my lifetime. They lost out to the worst Rangers and them that I can ever remember.

6. Anyway wanting McInnes in needs some good friends around them.

7. Ditto Askou.

I had credible information from the boardroom that the season finished would see a revolution like nothing before. That hasn't happened. We are a basket case with no little optimism for any immediate success. And it pains me to say that more than anyone will be able to comprehend.

Dark times fellow supporters.

Agree6 Disagree0

17 May 2026 09:09:06
Not much positivity around our Club at the minute. At least this nightmare season is over. I would be all for McInnes. I really don't believe we will get anywhere under Rohl.

17 May 2026 09:15:15
Honestly, stunned reading this from you, mate. You're usually one of the most optimistic voices on here, always backing the club and bringing cracking info from behind the scenes, so for you to sound this deflated genuinely worries me.

Makes you wonder what's actually being seen or heard inside the club for someone like you to come out with "dark times ahead." Feels like there's more going on behind closed doors than supporters are being told, whether it's recruitment, finances, dressing room issues or just complete lack of direction at board level.

The worrying part is when fans who normally keep the faith start losing belief. That's when you know confidence behind the scenes must be on the floor. Hopefully things aren't as bleak as they seem, but this post definitely hits hard coming from you.

17 May 2026 09:16:24
Why would McInnes leave Hearts for Rangers? Hearts finished above us, have an exciting recruitment policy, and European qualifiers to look forward to. Hearts will let McInnes keep that job for years to come. There is no way McInnes leaves a club who is on a high, to join the lows of Rangers where he could be unemployed again in months.

Rangers are a basket case of a club at the moment and many managers won't touch it.

McInnes turned us down before, and he'll turn us down again. He has a better thing going with Hearts.

17 May 2026 09:28:32
Have to agree Rohl with.

17 May 2026 09:35:50
Ibrox4Me, I regard yourself as one of the best, most trustworthy posters on here, mate, and your post absolutely concerns me as a Rangers season ticket holder and shareholder for 50 years now. ☹️ I know you get good info and that's why this has jolted me with concern.

☹️ You state Danny Rohl shouldn't be our manager and neither should Steven Gerrard, Derek McInnes or Askou, so who in your opinion should be our manager, mate? 🤔

17 May 2026 09:44:45
1. Disagree, got to give him a chance, joining after the vegan disaster isn't a fair crack of the whip.
2. Completely agree, don't fully understand why people want to go back to him.
3. At best, I won't lose sleep over any player leave this summer. I just hope we can move these guys on.
4. Completely agree, real concern he just doesn't get it.
5. Agreed.
6. Not sure, to be honest, and firmly believe he's no better or worse than Rohl.
7. Not sure of the reference, mate.

We're such an unfavourable prospect to potential managers that we have had to take an untested and inexperienced manager from the Championship.

We've then given him an inexperienced team of misfits, youth and loan players. What do we honestly expect to happen within this framework? Do we think this is a key to a successful team?

The thing which really confuses the life out of me, do we honestly believe better more experienced managers are going to look at this framework and think, 'yeah, that's the club for me, that club are going places and I can drive the bus'?

If we sack Rohl, we'll be looking further down the food chain and handing Celtic 10 in a row. Make no mistake, that's the reality and that's the fight ahead.

17 May 2026 09:46:38
Ibrox, for me, spoke of his disillusionment a few days back. Yes, he is normally positive, but I guess his is symptomatic of our whimpering end to the season.

17 May 2026 10:22:07
SWS, I have no idea who to bring in as manager. In my opinion, and that's all it is, I believe we need an actual manager, not this head coach approach. Not a project or potential, we need tried and tested. But I doubt we can afford or attract that kind of person. Same goes for the players we need. Maybe Stig can do a job and I'd be keen to retain him.

We're at a crossroads now. We either get it right and kick in or continue the downward spiral we are on.

We cannot continue emptying managers and rebuilding every year. There have been signs of improvement off the pitch but we're still miles and miles away from where we need to be.

We've blown the league, which we had no right to be contesting after the RM era. The potential money from UCL would've been game changing. Now we're back to scraping around for a few quid in tier 2 or 3.

The next 12 months will determine our medium to long term fate.

17 May 2026 09:50:17
Keep faith Ibrox4me. It has been seriously disappointing.

At this stage I still have faith in Danny Rohl

17 May 2026 10:56:04
For to read something like that coming from you, Ibrox, I find it quite disheartening and worrying. I always look for your posts, as you always have good information and normally quite positive.
Hopefully it's something we can turn around this season.

17 May 2026 11:17:13
Ibrox. Personally the new owners believed their own hype and underestimated the task. The knock on was this season just gone. Astute business men don't make the same mistakes twice, or do they. 🫡

17 May 2026 11:26:50
As much as Ibrox may have contacts and get information from those contacts this is just an opinion of another fan. No disrespect to Ibrox but other than the revolution like not other he is saying what his thoughts are.
So as that is what is happening:
1. We need to give a manager time to see if they are right. The only league we have won happened 3 years after Gerrard was appointed. It is that obvious and yet we fail to see it. Manager now more aware of the league so has less lessons to learn.
2. Never go back, if we were for me it would be Clement rather than Gerrard.
3. We have more players than 2/3 that worth keeping. They have a year of knowing the demands and, with the right experienced additions, they will get better. Also pre-season and a higher impact style of play will suit us better.
4. Cavenagh needs to hold strong and ignore supporters. We haven't made a particularly good job forcing change in the past so why would now be any different. Pay your ST and, if you aren't, stop paying it and don't go. It is an entertainment business and, whilst people won't like it, that is how it works.

5. I want other teams to be more competitive and Hearts managed it this year. Yes, the OF were poor but Hearts were better and, with continued signings of similar quality, who knows. I could say unless we learn lessons we will never win another league title in my lifetime.
6. I don't want McInnes as we have a coach. We need to keep on that so we don't constantly change players every time one is sacked or leaves.
7. I would want to see another season of Askou to see that he isn't another Thelin. Yes, his style is attractive but would it suit a team where the opposition sit in? Not sure on that.

Every takeover promises the world and it always takes more time to do everything than it is thought. The sacking of Stewart and Thelwell would have limited plans as well.

If we stop sacking managers and binning players just because we haven't won then I am optimistic. Give the club a chance to build for a future rather than scrapping it every 9-12 months. That hasn't worked so far.

17 May 2026 11:53:08
You make a lot of good points, and we've continually tried constantly changing managers after only a short time in charge since Gerrard left, and it hasn't worked. 🤔 So I agree, Angus, why not try for continuity for a change and give Danny Rohl next season and see what he can do with his own players.

🤔 We have to make changes around Danny Rohl, I feel, and I definitely think that will happen for the better. 🤔 🇬🇧

17 May 2026 12:15:06
In relation to Ibrox, he is not offering an opinion, he is stating his information comes from inside the boardroom.

I have met Ibrox and his information tends to be very accurate alongside Copland 5.

I know what I prefer to read.

17 May 2026 12:37:44
John, last line of Ibrox4me's post is a concern, as it leaves us all pondering and in the dark.
