For years, I kept telling myself things would eventually turn a corner and get better, but all they ever seem to do is get worse. It is clear the club is on a very wrong path right now. We have had an absurd revolving door of managers—watching the likes of Clement, Martin, Röhl, and now McInnes come and go in the span of just a few years proves there is absolutely zero long-term stability. The results speak for themselves. We have won exactly one league title since 2011, and we have had to sit back and watch Celtic not only catch up to our historic record but officially surpass us with 56 titles to our 55. We are no longer the most successful club in the country, and the boards have allowed it to happen.

To be perfectly honest, Scottish football as a whole is heading in the same dismal direction. Our UEFA coefficient has absolutely plummeted recently, dropping us right down the European rankings. We are losing our automatic Champions League spots and dropping from five European places down to just four for this season. The overall standard of the game here is regressing fast.

I have realised life is just too short to let this constant cycle of disappointment ruin my weekends. The joy has completely gone, and the stress simply isn't worth it anymore. I need to focus my time and energy on things that actually bring me happiness, so I am stepping away and taking a proper break from the club and from football for a while. The sad thing is I can be certain I won't be the only one.

I feel you pain, mate!

Right now, I am watching my mate fade away while he battles an illness he's never going to recover from. Added to that, I have a young family who are my whole life, as well as a job that takes every ounce of energy. Do I need to add to these stresses? Nope, especially when it's this football club of ours who continue to bounce from one disaster to another while continuously draining every penny they can out of our fan base.

Why bother?!

I have stated that apathy has now replaced anger amongst a large proportion of our support, and unless things change for the better, this will get worse. And these changes must happen soon!

If you read this TKF, then also take care of yourself. I'm not a million miles away from doing the same myself. I'm unfortunately already financially invested in my trip over in October, whether I take in the game or not is very questionable.



How this club attracts new supporters is beyond me, the absolute dross it has served up over the last decade is laughable. The odd result here and there, and yes a run to a European final, but those are exceptions.

Totally understand how you have reached this point, mate. I am similar at the moment.
I've had a season ticket for 25 years and have lost all motivation. Instead of giving it up completely, one of my mates has taken it for the time being. I find it easier to switch off from it if it's not costing me as much time and money.

TFK, I left Scotland at the time we imploded back in 2012. I genuinely think it saved my sanity! Not being here when all that played out was a blessing. It would've made me ill being surrounded by it, I honestly believe that. 1 thing is for sure, see, at the end of the day, your health and your family are more important than football.

My youngest son was born in England and supports Fulham! He said he's happy he supports a club that's not expected to win every week. 🤷🏼‍♂️ 😂 It's less stress, in his words, and staying in the PL or finishing in the top 12 with their budget is a big win for him. I sometimes think, wouldn't that be good! Lol.

I used to love this club, but I honestly don't feel that any more. There's been so much promise for turning things around, but it is always followed by disappointment.

I don't give up on anything in life easily, so this hurts to say, but I'm genuinely out. I'm no longer willing to spend my hard-earned money in the hope I may be pleasantly surprised as opposed to sad and disappointed.

TKF, we've all got to do what we feel is the right thing to do for ourselves, but I will never walk away from Glasgow Rangers. It's just not in me and would never cross my mind, but each to their own. 🤔 I was born a Rangers supporter and I'll absolutely die one. 🤔 My great grandfather's from both my parents' sides, my grandfather's from both sides, my own father and all my uncles from both sides, and even my gran from my mother's side all went to see the Rangers.

This isn't getting at anyone, but I am glad we don't all feel the same or otherwise 2012 would have been the end of us.

That said, I understand and accept we are all different, for sure, it's much easier and better to go to Ibrox and come home with a smile, but it's at these dark times the club needs us most.

It's a tough one because we all care about the club and it ruins our weekends watching us underperform year in year out. I decided a while back to change my thoughts on it. Rangers winning doesn't pay my wages and they're not the most important thing in my life.

Being a Rangers supporter to me is a life long hobby that I'll never give up, however, as much as I still get really annoyed, I don't let it fester and I don't dwell on it. It is what it is. The highs may not be what they used to be, but the lows are certainly less stressful now.

It is very difficult just now, and I fully comprehend people choosing to take a break from ongoing disappointment. The stress doesn't just come from our own failings, but the generic rubbish we see week on week from players and officials. This weekend highlighted it. Another well dodgy decision that went against us. People are laughing at us - and Scottish football in general - because they see this rubbish and unintelligible decisions.

I'm also fed up with non-entity players getting away with goading us on the park. Time for a Souness style reaction and a few red cards to regain respect. Or even, better, rattle 6 past other teams and laugh at them.

It's been a very ropey start. Even at this stage 5 points is a fair gap but not impossible. It should be much better, even with the players at his disposal now it should be better and Derek McInnes knows and accepts this. So if Derek can say it and accept it so can anyone on here who did expect to see a bit more after 6/7 weeks.

Finally those who don't like posters who share an opinion that Derek agrees with and think we should go elsewhere, where should we go because you disagree with an opinion that many have. Grow up and reel yourself in.

Dado, I don't necessarily disagree. It should be much better with what he has now and he knows it. This is a 14/15yr problem thou that can't be fixed by Any Manager in 6/7 weeks in 1 window. I wouldn't sack him now and have never called for any Manager to be sacked early, but is too much to ask for us to look better with the squad he has now? imo, no.

There is a lot wrong with the club has been for many years and The Manager is always the scapegoat. If this gets worse, I'm aiming my anger at The Chairman who's allowing this to play out again.

I agree, and I'm not in any way saying sack him. This season for me is stabilising the club, and if that means we're third again then so be it. We can't rebuild during every window.

Truthfully, and I know people don't want to hear this, we're not an appealing club anymore, both from a managers' and players' point of view.

I don't think we've really improved a player since Bassey left.

Young SPL players have very little interest in coming to us, and until the club is back on an even keel, things aren't going to get better.

I say this every year, and people crack up at me, but if the board are not planning how we stop ten in a row, then they are clueless.

Been saying it for years, Dado! The longer we're poor, the worse the standard in the SPFL gets, currently ranked 19th in Europe, 19th! The negative media around our referees and VAR that went global at the end of the season, the weather, long dark winters, the country being absolutely bogging and riddled by protests, 48% tax on a % of your earnings, 14/15 years of being absolutely rotten, it takes a lot of the shine away from the club's size and history.

No one will tell me different.

Hi everyone, first post been a long time reader. a lot of people going on about bad signing and players playing bad.
We have no strikers that stretch the game and run in behind (seriously is the main problem) which is making the space for us to play in smaller and tighter.
CM have then no space to run or move into and the only CM we have that can 3rd man run in behind (dio) people want him to be sold. Too many of the same player in the middle of the park for us and whoever is identifying the type of players required is miles off it.


If anyone thinks Penrice is a better player than Rommens there off their head, i understand he's not started well but if your team changes the way you play what looks now less options to play with going forward they are all on a hiding to none not just Rommens.I feel this is all down to managers tactics, used to being more direct with all his old teams and can't set his team up to dominate games in a different way.

This whole mess is down to one thing and that's the scouting and recruitment team not the manager, the board are backing managers but the club are signing squad players or who they think they can make a profit on in 2 years time, we need quality to improve our first 11, Celtic don't have a great squad but what they do is spend money on 2 or 3 players that improve their first 11 that will get them goals, we spend £2m to bring mccrorie back then play central midfielder dragojevic at RB, our team has no balance, the defence is a shambles we need some experience at the back

Bigtrfc75, think you'll find the Baird didn't select Drago to play RB, and the manager specifically wanted McCrorie, so let's have a little perspective here.
The board 'are' backing successive managers. However, I think a combination of club and manager recruitment choices have been inconsistent, and at times poor.
The team is currently clearly imbalanced, and I believe we are trying to rectify this.

But, equally, it does appear we are struggling to get in the game changing players we desire, as either the fees are too rich or, equally so, some players simply don't fancy us, and the SPL this what can look like squad signings will often be the best we can get. It is often a gamble, but sadly where we currently find ourselves.

Believe it or not, if a player was offered Celtic or Rangers, and all things being equal, they would likely take Celtic simply because they are winning at the moment. People generally accept the easier road if available.

Ok guys here goes.I've now calmed down at bit from yesterday at Ibrox and here's my honest opinion on everything that's probably been said by the majority of us before and what needs to happen short term to get the club we all love back challenging and reaching where we all know/want our club to be, numero uno in Scotland 🙏Our scouting team/recruitment team has to be seriously looked at by andrew cavanagh/jim gillespie etc because we're continually at this stage/predicament yet again, with signings that are more regarded at best squad players or project wip signings that could possibly come good and able to be good Rangers players through development and that's fine but for the here and now, we need players of absolute quality that are first team starters and can go right in and be game changers now and have a bit of experience and obviously proven ability behind them 🤔 Derek Mcinnes has had a very poor start as our manager we all know that but i personally think by getting the recruitment team/scouting team correct and upgraded, he can be a successful Rangers manager and he absolutely gets time for me and i believe jim gillespie correctly will afford him time to rebuild Rangers 🤔
Cavanagh has allowed Russell Martin, Danny Rohl and now derek mcinnes to spend money and like i said the common denominator for me is getting the scouting/recruitment team correct first and foremost to give mcinnes a fighting chance 🤔 Mcinnes now must be given the scope to go out and signing first team NOW quality players like a right back, centre half, left back, another right winger to compete with yokota, a class left winger hopefully driouech, an attacking goal scoring midfielder that is direct and can break the lines of the most stubbornness of a low block and now another striker, as possibly Chermiti could be out for a considerable period of time and Miovski looks to be going 🤔🇬🇧I'll finish up this post by stating no knee jerk reaction regarding derek mcinnes as we just can't be rinsing and repeating all the time as we as a club will get absolutely nowhere and if it takes 2 or 3 transfer windows for mcinnes to get our team right, then we have to bite the bullet, have bumps on the road but hopefully it will be absolutely worth it, but the recruitment team and scouting has to be upgraded to help mcinnes take Rangers back to where our club belongs🙏🇬🇧A bit long this post i know guys, but thoughts please 🤔

As I have stated, I really like D McInness and I want this to work out. However, he's not helping himself, mate, with some of his bizarre team selections and subs. Yes, maybe he doesn't trust his other options, but playing a 5m CM at RB, when Sterling is fit and on the bench, is mind boggling.

Then putting Curtis there, then subbing him for McCrorrie, is just as confusing.

I don't disagree with much you've written, Walter. Rangers have a big problem they can't fix. They're in a domestic competition ranked 19th in Europe! It's third tier at best! It's extremely difficult to recruit the standard we think we need when we're stuck here in this league with terrible officiating every week. There are lots of clubs in the market for the same standard of player who have better domestic competitions, better weather, probably less than 48% tax on a % of their earnings. If you add that to the mess we've been in for the last 14/15 years whether fans like or not we're not the attraction we once were. That's why I thought McInnes, although not my 1st choice, was probably a good choice as he'd make us hard to beat, well organised and more competitive with players of less quality which he's done at most clubs he's been at.

He probably will if he's afforded time. He can't fix a decade long plus problem in 6-7 weeks in 1 window but we should be better with what he has and he's accepted that. This Rangers board won't bin another manager early. The entire football department top to bottom needs to be overhauled. The club needs to identify a style and brand of football they want to play and stick with it. It's all over the gaff. 4/5 different managers, different styles, recruiting for those styles has left us in an absolute mess.

They are all on McInnes and if I'm honest, 2 of 3 have shown nothing and the other has been half decent. No more projects, quality seasoned pro's are required.

I like Devlin as well, we seem to have far too many competing for the same position and Del is trying to accommodate that. As for Ross, he shouldn't have been brought back, but that's not his fault. He loves the club, and anyone worth their salt would have wanted to come back given the chance. Shankland is who I've been most disappointed with, far too static.

Watched the post match interview with him yesterday, and he looked like he was trying not to smirk. That really annoyed me and is not fitting of a captain of the club.
Yes, yesterday was poor, but we put it behind us. Try get quality in the door and look forward to midweek. As it's a massive game, I hope the fans get behind the team and we push on.

Just my thoughts on our poor start

Are we seeing the knock on effect of so much departures from last years squad, coupled with the uncertainty around so many players actively talking to other clubs and or finalizing deals away

Can this be attributed to the over riding fact the team look's bereft of confidence?

I believe and hope McCinnes is the right man to take us forward, just not sure we are going to see the best of this team until the window closes

As mentioned in a previous post we have 8 or 9 players actively working their tickets out the club, some deep in contract talks, others having tentative discussions, we have already seen 16 players leave, either on loan, OOC or permanent transfers away, that's not including the young boys on pathway loans

We may well look back on this most recent squad rebuild as our biggest transformation ever

Should we expect any better than we are seeing given the circumstances we are asking these players to play in?
