I see there is some chat around the EPL introducing Anchoring as a tool to cap spending and make the league more sustainable.
(Anchoring is the use of the turnover of the bottom placed team on the league to set the spend cap for the rest of the league. So instead of being 70% of your own turnover, it would be 5 times the turnover of the bottom team from the previous season)
Imagine that in our league, it would cripple us and prevent us attracting the best footballing talent like the Thelwells.

EHL- personally I am against any sort of government appointed regulator and i actually feel this breaches Fifa and Uefa charters.
FIFA states that any nation who's government interferes with the governance of football shall be banned until football is independent of the state.

I hope it's sorted this morning and an early pm announcement- with MCCann and Smith taking charge. I'm on the fence about when he should arrive as respect the loyalty to see his current club over the line, we would want that too. The overhaul will take time with players and implementation of Muscats system/ style so for the longer term gain, as long as it's the minute the league is over with Shanghai then that's fine for me, hopefully only 2 games.

It s obvious Rhol withdrew because he wasn't getting the job. Personally I think the Board are trying to appease the fans.1st Gerrard now mustcat. Let's hope it's turns out better than Mick Beale he was the last manager majority shouted from the Roof tops for.

From memory it was pretty split between in and PC, don't remember people being too disappointed with PC getting it before him.
It'll only work if Thelwell is gone, if we keep the same framework in place then he'll be doing well to last 12 month.

How can you compare Muscat to Beale? One is a title winning manager who has won leagues and cups in 3 different countries, whereas, the other is Mick Beale.
I fail to see why employing a very successful, multiple title winning manager, is the board trying to "appease" the fans?!

Sunshine it's obviously to appease the fans because the fans that want him all go on about how he knows the club. They've gone for someone who was wanted by the old Rangers men, not because of winning poor standard leagues. Completely different scenarios with Beale and Muscat. Beale while a mistake was promoted because of what he had already done at the club, helping bringing success and the relationships he built while here. Muscat is based on his management abroad and a hope to imitate Anges success.

Maybe Gerrard and Rohl both knocked it back because they didn't like what they were hearing from the people in charge? To compare Muscat to Beale is a bit much though. As said above Muscat has won things.

Couldn't agree more Sunshine. Muscat is a proven winner and will take no nonsense. The fact he has a previous connection to the club is nice but not essential. But at least he has a little understanding. I'm excited by this appointment and he's been my choice since Gerrard left.

Let's get right behind our prospective new management team of kevin muscat, neil mccann and whoever else is part of it 🥊We should stop looking for faults at the very start of muscat's tenure and wait and see how he does 🤔I'm very happy with the possible appointment of muscat and think he'll do well 🤔I also think our owners would have to give him assurances to what power he has ie. in the choosing of new players or he wouldn't entertain taking the job if all power was with thelwell 🤔.

Every fan opinion poll put Gerrard and Muscat in the top 2.
The media frenzy promoting both was like heading towards an election.
Also after admitting that they got it wrong and only really knew the English market are people now saying that the decision makers have an intimate knowledge of Asian football.
Like I said I believe both to be appeasement options to get some breathing space for those above.

Muscat has won Mickey Mouse leagues, and regardless of some people here suddenly becoming experts on said Mickey Mouse leagues, facts are facts. The claim that Muscat is the right man because he knows the club is nonsense, it's 20 odd years since he was near Ibrox, Beale was less than 20 months so why is nobody acknowledging he knew the club, and how did that work out? I know many people here are excited about this appointment, but I am certain we will be back in the same boat by the close season at the very latest.
