Where we find ourselves this morning . I would have taken that in September.
RΓΆhl on Monday!

27 Apr 2026 11:09:47
Correct, BjBear, just the same as me, mate. We win our last four games, we will win the league.

27 Apr 2026 11:15:15
I think everyone would have taken this in September, BJBear.

27 Apr 2026 11:20:45
Love the "Spring is in the Air" mentality. πŸ˜‚

27 Apr 2026 11:28:13
My star, we would still rely on someone else taking points off Hearts.

27 Apr 2026 11:35:12
But Hearts will drop points, probably against Celtic and Motherwell, Cullin.
We win our four remaining games. We will win the league. We end up with 81 points, our league.

27 Apr 2026 11:42:39
I think Danny Rohl got it wrong yesterday, add to the fact some players way off it didn't help. On the plus side, Rommens coming back offers us so much going forward and covers well at the back. Celtic and Hearts still to play well at Fir Park, but I can't remember us playing good for 90 mins this season and doubt we can manage it the next two games, never mind four.

Personally think we are out of it, hopefully wrong.

27 Apr 2026 11:51:37
I totally agree with you, My star and have been saying as much in my earlier posts. πŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

27 Apr 2026 11:53:04
Yep, was worried when I saw the team. Aasgaard & Gassama starting together always worries me.
Still say I don't see the player in Chukwana.
Like, Aasgrard looks to have all the assets needed in today's game, but he's slow, too relaxed and gets caught all too often.

Doesn't seem to smell danger. I'm not Dios's biggest fan, but his energy and enthusiasm made a big difference.
I can't see any way back now. Think we'll ship more points and season will just get away from us.

27 Apr 2026 12:16:45
Realistically, we needed to beat Hearts and Celtic regardless of yesterday's result.
What's changed is that we haven't got any wriggle room in the last 2 matches, and yes, we now need a favour with Hearts in their last 3 matches.

Nothing is decided or over for us, it's got a little bit tougher though.
Massive match next Monday against Hearts and on to Celtic.
Disappointing yesterday, but I've seen some over reaction.

27 Apr 2026 10:35:25
Edd1 I know you had originally thought that Andoni Iraola would return to the basque county and his boyhood club in Athletic Bilbao.

But as Edin Terzic has been named as manager starting at the end of the season where do you feel would be the next destination for Iraola?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I would expect somewhere in Spain as his family have not settled in England and want to go home. But if a big job comes up, I guess he would be crazy not to take it as he might not get another chance. I can't see it being Unreal Madride as the players couldn't handle being asked to work hard by Alonso and Iraola asks his players to work harder than Xabi!

I would hope Richard Hughes has decided to take him to Liverpool, but I doubt he has that much sense. Maybe it will be Chelsea, but again, I doubt their 5 sporting directors will come to a consensus before he has a job elsewhere.

There just doesn't seem to be anything of the right level for him around, so I think he is going to end up back in Spain, and at a midtable club, when he should be moving to a team looking to challenge in the UCL.}

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2026 11:07:07
Thanks for your response Edd, I still find the Chelsea situation utterly bemusing. I have never seen an organization where so many people do the same job

{Ed001's Note - it is a mess.}

27 Apr 2026 10:10:59
Still gutted and passed off about yesterday, however, are any of us surprised? This is how Rangers teams finish seasons, get into contention and then bottle it. We all have the same opinion on Martin, but he was the 1st manager to call out a mentality problem.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Apr 2026 11:03:15
That is true, Struth. It's coming back to haunt us once again. I am not surprised at all, as I called it while others were abusing me for being negative. I thought I was being realistic, as it happens time and time again. Doesn't make it hurt any less, right enough.

27 Apr 2026 11:11:33
How many times has your towel been out and in though, that's the difference. This league isn't over either.

27 Apr 2026 11:40:06
This is almost a totally different squad of players from last season, and a different manager. Does everyone Rangers sign have a mentality issue, and will that always be the case moving forward because "this is how Rangers teams finish seasons"?

What if we sign a dozen new players in the summer and change the manager? Should we expect to lose the league again because it happened in the past? It rained yesterday, therefore it must rain tomorrow? I don't believe that.

Motherwell play the best football in the country and that has been true all season long. They outplayed Rangers using a superior tactic, and they have superior players in several positions. Motherwell deserved their win and I don't think it had anything to do with mentality.

Who are the guys that started yesterday who were part of the squad last season? Butland, Sterling, and Raskin? So those three have mentality issues?

27 Apr 2026 11:49:56
Agreed, Rohl.

27 Apr 2026 12:28:51
Motherwell played well, at times, yesterday and showed that, at times, they can pass the ball through the opposition. They are a distant 4th in a year where neither Old Firm team are anywhere near what they should be. But yesterday they managed to score 3 goals. Nice goals for them, but how often have they done that? Yesterday was more about Rangers' lack of hunger from minute one, not chasing back and not finishing gilt-edged chances.

I wouldn't be surprised if both Hearts and Tims beat them by pressing high up the park and scoring from their mistakes, and fouling any time they try to turn into space. Really surprised at the lack of hunger at this stage in the season.

27 Apr 2026 12:31:02
A wonder what makes you think that, Storm. Oh, that's right 1 title in 15 years. Some don't think we have mentality issues. πŸ˜‚ Can I ask who the several players are that are superior to ours?

27 Apr 2026 14:05:34
Boy blue, How many players were on the park yesterday that were Rangers players last season? Is it a mentality thing with players just signed as well?

27 Apr 2026 14:42:49
It's a mentality thing running through our full club mystar. It's blatantly obvious. Titles and cups tell that alone. Or have we had serial winners in our teams last 15 years?

27 Apr 2026 15:40:46
Three players that started that game yesterday were Rangers players last season, this mentality is made up crap, Boy Blue, if that makes you feel better, we're all good.

27 Apr 2026 09:57:21
Whatsmyname
I totally agree with you regarding the manager. I feel exactly the same way and have done from the start, I want to see a bit of fire in the belly. I also think playing our best 11 players every week (our best team) unless someone is unfit to play ( then not on the bench).

Big PC done exactly the same thing resting players against dare I say it Motherwell at Ibrox when he was the manager when we were in the driving seat which i'm my opinion cost us the league that year too.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Apr 2026 10:59:11
Wonder I've you'll be saying the same when we win our next two games, Rab, big change on this site Again.

27 Apr 2026 09:13:20
BB4 the dig is the requirements to challenge me and me alone on players based on nationalities alone.

I offered a potential explanation as to why Skov Olsen was not brought on.
In no way is this a defence of him!

At no point have I fiercely backed Aasgaard yet i continuously get brought up in conversation with him.

Rosto actually worded it well to not look like a dog but considering he constantly bombards me over Scandinavian players it's safe to assume that he was having another dig.

Now I have never said that these 2 signings have been successful.
I have also never advocated for the signing of Aasgaard.

I am happy for my honest opinion to be challenged.
I am not happy being challenged on a player i had no input or happiness in signing.
The only reason Aasgaard gets brought into conversation is because he chose to represent Norway.

Now if people wish to discuss as adults then let's discuss real opinions based on the player without mentioning nationalities.

I am not biased but people are certainly biased against me for that reason.

Agree4 Disagree0

27 Apr 2026 09:44:20
Would you agree that Skov Olsen has been a failure and should not be signed by Rangers?

27 Apr 2026 09:47:21
You definitely have 100% backed Aasgaard Aphe. It's no biggie, mate, you don't want to criticise these 3 players and show them a lot of support, fair enough. Funnily enough you're happy to critique other players. It's all good, mate, it's your gift to do so. I'll challenge that, that's my gift. πŸ‘

27 Apr 2026 09:49:25
I would agree that it has been a resounding failure at this current time.

I would also agree that it would be difficult to defend spending the quoted figures to sign him.

It is my understanding, however, that the club still have the intention to keep commitments to the player and believe that he will come good.

These things are continuously under scrutiny and may change at any point.

27 Apr 2026 09:51:50
No, Rosto, you wish to have a go at me about players purely on nationalities.

I will give a rational take on every player regardless.

27 Apr 2026 10:05:57
If you feel that way, Aphe, then that's up to you. I think you've backed them strongly. I think I've challenged that backing.

You've backed Rohl early doors (no salami there. 🀭). Good shout, and I support that. I couldn't give a flying bahookie what country they are from, but I'm not going to waste energy convincing you of that.

Opinions aren't that precious, even my own, but you have 100% backed these guys. Would be amazing if they came good. You also backed the Naderi signing, and didn't agree early doors about his injury history being a concern.

It's all good, it's just a debate. Not life or death.

27 Apr 2026 10:08:34
Aph. You like Scandinavian players, right? Am I correct in saying you're German? If I'm wrong, I humbly apologize.

27 Apr 2026 10:13:01
What's the point in debating with you when you can't understand simple answers?

The only time I have backed Aasgaard is when I backed up his numbers provided and used this one statement I.

"If Thelo played for Motherwell or Hearts everyone would want him signed."

As for Antman, yes I backed his signing and I have no idea what is going on with him behind the scenes.

He was the best creative player in the Eredivisie the year prior to us signing him. Sonia, clearly a good player.

27 Apr 2026 10:16:37
Whatsmyname, I am half and half.

I am Norwegian, born to a Norwegian father and German mother.

I make recommendations of players based on my knowledge of players.
I do not recommend many British players because, quite frankly, I do not know enough about them.

I bring rumours when I can about links, and speak about deals when it is appropriate.

27 Apr 2026 10:22:37
I understand the answers, mate, believe it or not, I am educated to a very decent standard. The understanding of your debates isn't above my intellectual processing. I just don't agree with a few of the things you have posted previously, and I've enjoyed challenging them.

I understand perfectly well, thank you.

27 Apr 2026 10:26:02
Why are you incapable of understanding, accepting and moving on then, Rosto?

27 Apr 2026 10:32:19
That it, Aph, revert to type. When anyone questions you, we get the usual: 'it's because I am Norwegian' or 'you insult people' or 'let's have adult conversation'.
Give it a rest.

27 Apr 2026 10:36:54
Not at all, Jasp. It is an adult conversation and if you lack the understanding of what drives the post then it would be best to scroll by and ignore it.

27 Apr 2026 10:54:56
I can understand, accept and move on, but honestly, mate, Aphe, come on, pal. You are still posting today/yesterday about Olsen's confidence etc.

His confidence is probably so low because he is performing poorly and he is a highly paid professional who needs to take responsibility for where he is at in his career currently.

Rangers don't need an Β£8m sub to work on as a project. We needed the Β£6m Czech guy who had the balls to skoosh the Celtic fans and banged in 18 goals from the wing last season.

But hey, you want to focus on me picking on him and you about nationality etc, then that is your gift. I think you are letting yourself down by bringing the debate of players to this level.

I believe in Rangers as a club for everyone. I backed MoJo, Mark Walters, Amoruso becoming our first foreign captain and now you believe I am somehow prejudice against your background and that of the players who have similar backgrounds.

It is your gift, but it is not serving you well, mate.

27 Apr 2026 11:03:37
It is blatantly obvious.

Why have you never questioned my support of Djiga, Diomande, Gassama?

The only answer I can see is they are not Scandinavian and do not fit your narrative.

27 Apr 2026 11:04:12
Can't believe Rosto isn't capable of moving on the way you do, Aph.

27 Apr 2026 11:09:18
Teddy, I can take an answer and accept the answer.
I will not return to the same question every single time we lose a match.

27 Apr 2026 11:12:26
BigDado, that is a point I wished to make.

I would understand questions being asked of Aasgaard because of his poor performance yesterday.

Yet again I am questioned about my support of two players who did not play yesterday.

27 Apr 2026 11:25:01
Aphe, if that's true and the club wishes to commit to the signing, then new owners, but nothing has changed. 🀷🏼

27 Apr 2026 11:34:32
Hahaha, Aphe, you're really making me laugh now, pal. I have nothing against Scandinavians, I have a very good friend who is Orcadian and he is a good Rangers man too 😁😁😁.

God knows why you are bringing up those 3 players, which I have mostly positive things to say. However, Gassama does my head in with his decision making.

Anyway, it's been weird and fun and remember; next time you bang on about Olsen's confidence, I may have something to say about that. Then you can bang on about me being anti-Scandinavian and you can attempt to insult my intelligence about lack of understanding. Whatever, all good!

Skol, mate. πŸ‘

27 Apr 2026 11:37:42
I've had my chat on Olsen. He was signed for winning the league this season, be utter madness signing him now.

27 Apr 2026 13:09:02
Aph, it was definitely a defence of Olsen, or why make the post at all, mate. I honestly don't know what's going on with you and Rosto, I'm not aware of it. I stand by what I said. I thought all replies were respectful, but I'm not walking in your shoes.

BTW, Aph, I wasn't having a dig, it truly wanted to understand, maybe I'm missing something, mate, no hard feelings. Thanks for reply. 🀝

27 Apr 2026 13:54:18
Rostosto - Re Cerny.

You're right, he did eventually come good, but bear in mind he was rotten for quite a while, and our wonderful, supportive fanbase wanted him sent back.

For what it's worth, I didn't see any anti Norwegian bias. I like Aph as a poster, and you two obviously have a special kind of bromance going on. 😁😁

27 Apr 2026 14:24:56
Haha, Athole, I like the guy. He's got a lot of bold recommendations and backs guys he likes.

I think he's pulled back a bit on his backing a bit today. Fair enough! He's not keen on being challenged. Again, fair enough.

He's way off it to suggest I have some anti-Scandi thing going on.

27 Apr 2026 14:28:12
Scandinavian players have been held in high regard in Scotland for years aphe. Many would argue, myself included, that the greatest players to wear the jersey of both Rangers and Celtic came from scandinavia.

27 Apr 2026 08:45:12
Can someone explain to me what our game plan is? We've had plenty time on the training pitch now to work on our shape and system but I see no identity in DRs style. Motherwell play through teams by moving them around, Celtic at times use pace and play high suffocating football (I get their well off it now) Hearts have shown to be well drilled right through the team and can scrap and grind out results.
I like to think I've a relatively good understanding of the game and can see things in teams that's been worked on, patterns of play that open up teams or movements that create space for moves to develop, but in this Rangers team I see very little.

The ref blows to start the match and it just seems flat for large parts hoping we land on a chance rather than creating our own. And when teams break against us were all at sea. It's a terrible brand of football.
Anyone give me what our tactic is to win football matches?

27 Apr 2026 10:11:07
Hear, hear, J Zer.

27 Apr 2026 10:40:22
We seem to remember playing 'more in hope than expectation'. We seem to look for opponent mistakes, rather than have belief we will create.
I thought yesterday we were far too reliant on Moore, Gassama & Aasgaard. We really need more creation from the midfield.

27 Apr 2026 11:27:40
Bathgate, that's been the case for years. If we don't win nothing this year, then who knows. Really pissed off.

27 Apr 2026 11:38:28
Right now the team uses a 4-4-2. This isn't the formation Rohl went with initially, we started using it due to the lack of goals coming from the forward areas. It has worked at times including a very good win over Hearts at Ibrox.

I do believe we would be playing a 3 man midfield if we had the right players, but we don't. We had Diomande, Raskin and Barron when Rohl first came in. We basically lacked the numbers in midfield. Rohl was trying to rotate and manage their minutes. He has since brought in Chuck. However, we still don't have a clear number 6. People often say Raskin can play as a 6, but he can't. Raskin wants to get forward all too often and he just lacks the positional discipline be a 6. Raskin is a box-to-box player and should be used as such. Rangers need a number 6 like Elliot Watt at Motherwell.

Why can Motherwell play the system that they do? They have the players for it. They have a number 6. They have two wide players that are better than our options IMO. Talk up Mikey Moore if you want but Maswanhise has 17 goals and has a lot more end product. I'm not even sure what our best option on the RW is but Motherwell have Elijah Just who has 7 goals and 7 assists (again these are better attacking numbers than Moore). The Rangers wide players create and score very little so I'm not sure we can go 4-3-3 with Chermiti up front on his own.

Rohl needs to take this group of players and try to get the most out of them. Maybe that's a 4-4-2 for now. This doesn't mean it's the system Rohl wants to play. I don't think sticking Moore out wide in this 4-4-2 is ideal, and with Rommens injured and Tavernier on the bench, it badly lacks attacking intent from the wide areas (as we seen yesterday).

The Rangers squad is a mess. The Celtic squad is a mess. Both teams are just trying to grind out result and squeeze as much as they can from the squads they have. Much will change in the summer.

I don't think Rangers have the playing squad to make a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 work properly TBH. If we play 4-3-3 we lack goals up top. If we play 4-4-2 we can lose shape and the battle for central midfield. This isn't ideal. Rangers need to fix the squad and that can only happen in the summer. Skov Olsen would have helped a lot if he was good enough to play RW but he's totally failed. Miovski has been terrible. Naderi is currently injured. There is a real lack of options up top, and out wide. There's a lack of a number 6. Meghoma and Aarons don't look good enough either. Rohl is very limited in who he can play, and that limits the way the team can play too.

27 Apr 2026 12:43:53
That summing up is pretty much how I see it. If only we could have 12 players! The comment about a number 6 and midfield in general has been an issue for a while. We have had too many middle of the park midfielders unwilling to get into the box and score, and unable to protect the defence. Not bad players but we need players more suited to the position.

No 10s don't really work in our league and are not really vogue at all given the increased tempo of the game. Barron, Raskin, Diomande work well but all the front 3 need to be creators and finishers. No Rommens, no Naderi and even no Tav make us look very limited.

27 Apr 2026 07:39:49
Thanks EHL for your reply about youth player development and players being trained in one position to the exclusion of other ones before their physical attributes are fully developed and understood. I'm a bit surprised we're not yet using the Dutch style system of coaching players in multiple positions since we've been hearing about it for years.

Hopefully you can instigate a bit of change.
I do wonder what King's position will be in the end. He looked good defensive centre mid for Scotland u21s but as you allude to he'll have a lot of catching up to do.

Total football.

27 Apr 2026 09:03:26
The SFA published a 'reform' paper at the start of this season laying out their plans to transition from its current philosophy (which mirrors England's) and move towards a new vision which mirrors Holland and Germany.

The problem will come to funding, as the current SFA programme is heavily subsidised by the government - as it casts a pretty wide net and aims to include as many kids as possible. However, the German and Dutch models are so effective as they are pretty ruthless in terms of restricting the numbers within their elite academies.

Being this ruthless in the short term will have a hugely negative impact on the game at grass roots level; however, what Germany and Holland have shown is that this approach drives success in player development and after 3-5 years you start to see huge advances in the quality of players being developed through the academies that sit below the elite level.

And, then after 5 years you start to see growth at grass roots again.

Personally, I don't have any faith in the SFA being able to implement anything and think the best thing we could do would be to bring outsiders in to run the game.

27 Apr 2026 10:07:31
Blue Hue, I remember articles in the media 30+ years ago about the Dutch system, 'total football', SFA looking to completely redesign our youth setup etc.

Nothing happened.

The mismanagement of our game at all levels has been a national disgrace. It's been going on for decades.

27 Apr 2026 10:08:32
Great post EHL.

27 Apr 2026 11:29:22
EHL, love the 5 year strategy briefings. Load of crap.
