People always ask the question "why would we developed another teams player" when talking about Mikey Moore. These are the same people who expect other teams to develope our young players. It's part and parcel of football guys

21 Jul 2026 19:58:22
A couple of loans can be the difference in lifting silverware, usually players we couldn't afford to buy who are a bit older, but when it's younger ones, they are top drawer and all usually go on to start in top teams in top leagues.
21 Jul 2026 20:16:03
Don't want him or the 2 to 3 million a loan would cost us to develop him. Would rather use that to actually buy a player or develop our own. Loans from and to other clubs can be beneficial to both parties, but at that price, not for me.
21 Jul 2026 20:18:12
Everyone has their own opinions but imo, I'd have Mikey Moore back on loan with us in a heartbeat. ๐ A superbly talented young player. ๐ ๐ฌ๐ง
21 Jul 2026 20:32:21
Fork, I think we might be the only 2 who think that. He was no more than decent in a poor team and no more. I like him as a player, but not to the extent I would be willing to pay ยฃ3m loan fee plus wages.
Loans are meant to benefit both sides, which is why lower division Scottish teams take our young lads as it benefits them as they get a good player for little financial outlay and our players get game time.
The first part of that equation isn't even close to being met here. So again, a no from me. Buy a player for ยฃ3M and pay lower wages and at least at the end of it there will be a sell on fee potential.
21 Jul 2026 21:04:59
Angus, I'm with you guys as well. I like Mikey Moore but 2 or 3 million for a loan plus wages is money we can use elsewhere. I think Curtis has earned the right for a run in the team this season.
21 Jul 2026 21:22:13
Great post, CB. Some don't seem to understand that point you have made, and I don't know why ๐ it's just stupidity.
21 Jul 2026 21:27:22
Not sure, but when we get a loan, it can cost us millions!
When we loan players out, do we get anything at all?
21 Jul 2026 21:36:06
I agree with Angus and Fork. Moore clearly has talent and was good at times last year. However, I wouldn't bring him back again this season on loan. I would prefer we invest the loan fee on buying a player and also give Curtis more game time.
21 Jul 2026 21:55:05
Was Mikey Moore top drawer? Someone should have told me, as I completely missed that.
All I saw was paying a fortune to develop another team's player at the cost of our own, and getting meh in return.
I suppose he will always have the great achievement of finishing 3rd in the SPL. That will live long in the memory. Not sure you get silverware for that, mind you.
I get a 'try before you buy' model for developing players, but outright loans for these youngsters are nonsense, as they are so unlikely to have the consistency we need to win every game.
Tillman went against that rule for me, as he was actually good enough and we had an option. MM was not even close to justifying the financial and game time costs.
21 Jul 2026 21:56:02
Moore the only player that got people off their seats last season, u felt the buzz in the stadium when he got the ball.
21 Jul 2026 22:05:27
I don't see people constantly asking why would we develop another club's player, but I do see loads of people saying they would prefer not to develop another club's player, spend what would be around 6 million over 2 seasons on a player that's actually our own. I think we all understand that sometimes a loan is needed to fill a gap, or try before you buy, but to spend what would amount to over 6 million on a player over 2 seasons that isn't going to be ours is bad business imo. If it was a Cerny or Sima who got over 20 goals each and double figure assists, I would understand the clamour, but 6 goals and 4 assists, am I missing something? If Mikey comes back and does similar numbers is that 6 million well spent? I understand he's an exciting player, but there has to be an end product to it.
I honestly think people understand it's part and parcel of football, mate, every club in the world does it. We also have one of our own that needs developing, the fee involved, his stats last year etc, should all be taken into account, it's not just about developing another team's player.
21 Jul 2026 22:14:46
Loan players should only be brought in to temporarily bridge unaffordable financial gaps or secure depth when primary targets are unavailable, but these additions must deliver a definitive, trophy-winning spark to be justified. Last season's loan market performance fell short of that, demonstrating that a poorly fitted loanee can fail to provide the competitive edge required to elevate the squad, which is part of the reason we finished 3rd.
This season the primary competitive leap should rely on the permanent signings, as these core players naturally improve through superior quality we buy and an additional year of crucial league experience for those already here.
Consequently, any supplemental loan signings we pursue must represent a strict upgrade over past mixed results, ensuring the club consistently targets impactful elite talent rather than settling for uninspiring stopgaps and young players needing experience to improve for their owners.
Funny how some can't understand those points; just stupidity really. Hey, this just insulting folk is easy, might try it all the time rather than trying to add to an argument with my own thoughts. ๐
21 Jul 2026 22:25:34
We're not getting money because we are loaning our players to teams with practically no budget and we just want to get them vital experience.
We are targeting loans from big leagues, big clubs and competing against other teams for the signing.
There is no comparison.
However, I do agree that it's steep when we can sign someone decent for up to an extra couple of million with sell on potential.
If Mickey came in and was better than last year, then 2-3m could be a good gamble at the same time.
I'd definitely have him back.
21 Jul 2026 21:59:52
Who is the "some" that doesn't understand it? Do u think we can't comprehend the written word. The only thing I expect is not to pay the amount they want for a player that runs up dead ends, passes when he shouldn't, and doesn't when he should. He done OK, that's it.
As for the OP point, the loan system can work well for both parties without paying exorbitant fees, that's the difference.
As for stupidity look in the mirror.
21 Jul 2026 22:18:18
100% BB, careful though as you'll be accused of stupidity๐ณ
21 Jul 2026 22:41:51
Well put, Angus. I wasn't so eloquent in my replies as of yet not posted, though I'd understand why.
22 Jul 2026 01:12:04
Moore was nothing more than a player that helped Rangers to 3rd 7 or 8 good games.
22 Jul 2026 01:28:02
Ano Fork, there's no need is there?
22 Jul 2026 07:51:37
i am the same with all the no team, i don't want to pay millions for someone who will never be our own, he has shown no desire to remain in Scotland which is fair enough so 2-3Million for no return is a huge no no for this stupid supporter.
22 Jul 2026 08:31:25
Fork, it can be difficult when the same poster adds nothing to the discussion other than to insult those who don't agree with his views. Not sure if it is deliberate to try to upset and get a reaction or not.
But, like other times, it needs to be called out, and as long as we don't cross that same line, and we didn't, I don't see an issue.
Just get a bit fed up with it being the same every day really. ๐ฅฑ

Will be at both games.
21 Jul 2026 19:19:27
Even if we get a new signing tomorrow night think the biggest cheer will go out for Broxi as long as his bail has been paid, bit of tongue cheek by mascots up and down the country which is a laugh with opposing supporters, the world has gone mad

21 Jul 2026 19:48:08
I think Rangers are waiting to sell Raskin. Which is exactly what Rangers Review and 4Lads said, is it not?
21 Jul 2026 20:05:17
I wasn't too sure, CB.
I predicted a few outies and some innies. ๐
RWC - no idea! Haven't listened to.
21 Jul 2026 20:17:30
U say outies and innies and I'm thinking bellybuttons. ๐
21 Jul 2026 20:35:26
We aren't buying anyone, so it is an easy out for journalists who don't have a story to say we are waiting for sales. Or alternatively, we could be waiting for deals to be tied up, visas to be agreed, and lots of reasons. Only 47 days left of transfer window, thankfully.
21 Jul 2026 16:28:27
If we want an idea of what it will cost to sign Mikey Moore, boro have just signed 20 yo winger will lankshear from spurs for total fee of ยฃ20m with an initial ยฃ10m payment,
Now he scored 11 on loan at Oxford last season.
Moore is higher rated, had a loan at a bigger club played in Europe and won young player of the year for us and the league.
You're going to be looking closer to ยฃ30m if u ask me. Probably initial 18-20m with rest in add ins
We won't be doing that deal.

21 Jul 2026 16:58:33
We already have Curtis. No need for Moore. Best of luck to the Spurs player wherever he ends up.
21 Jul 2026 17:03:40
Unfortunately, I totally agree, Stevie G. ๐ค Mikey Moore way too expensive for us. โน๏ธ ๐ฌ๐ง
21 Jul 2026 17:07:50
Stevie, you're correct. Moore is rated higher at Spurs, believe Lankshear has only played a few games for them, and a couple of years older, I'm sure.
21 Jul 2026 17:21:55
Yea, Beale, mate, he's 20, Moores 18.
They're likely moving on the older youths to create a pathway for the ones De Zerbi rates.
Rohl with cheese.
Curtis is going to be one of 2 right-sided forwards.
We need to sign another.
Gassama is one of 2 left-sided forwards.
We need another, it makes a lot of sense to use the loan market for one of those positions and buy cash for the other.
Moore will, imo, be a Rangers player by close of window on years loan at likely 2 or 3 m.
Moore
21 Jul 2026 17:29:00
It's why his god status last season made no sense to me.
30m player and that's his output?
I had to listen to fans complaining about Chermiti because of the 8m fee?
Would he be a hero if he signed him for 20m? I doubt it, the same fans would be calling him a complete flop.
21 Jul 2026 17:44:36
He's 18, Devlin, so let's see what he's like after another season of first team football. I'd rather sign a permanent player, but if he came back on loan I wouldn't be annoyed. He will be a far more developed player. Remember it took him about 5 months to get up to speed.
21 Jul 2026 17:53:32
He didn't have a god status? People liked him, that doesn't mean he had a god status ๐๐ Jesus.
21 Jul 2026 18:00:52
I couldn't agree with you more, Cammy. Moore badly lacked end product. He was like Ryan Kent in that sense.
Curtis scored 3 for Rangers at the start of last season. I think he got 5 goals for Kilmarnock. If Curtis was given the full season, he could hit double figures and get a PFA YPOTY nomination.
Very much looking forward to seeing what Curtis brings us this season from his preferred left-wing. He scored there for Scotland too. I don't really care about Moore. He's got nothing to do with us.
21 Jul 2026 18:02:10
Why would we continue to develop another club's player, Wishy? What he can do next season is not our business as he is not our player. Our player is Curtis. Imagine how better Curtis would be if he had a full season at Rangers last year. We don't need or want Moore back.
21 Jul 2026 18:05:12
Not many players Rangers have had over the last while that get you off your seat. Moore was one of them. I'd love Moore being a Rangers player next season, but really can't see it happening. His best bet for his career is moving on loan to a far better league.
Moore has some career ahead of him, a cracking young player with great potential.
21 Jul 2026 18:08:42
We don't want him back, believe that's only your take, Roll, as I'd love him back, just don't think it will happen.
21 Jul 2026 18:08:55
What Moore brought to the team that most don't recognise is his ability to carry the ball 60 yards when we're under pressure in our own half. His trickery and skill can tire defenders over the course of the game.
You're correct, there is an element of Ryan Kent there I wouldn't disagree, however he's 17, not long 18, so let's get things in order.
Over the course of a game, his distance covered, dribbles completed, ball won in opposing half, etc.
will all make a huge difference to the game.
He needs to add better numbers, but I think if we got him this season with a good confident team around him and winning, not Russel Martin's team, c'mon now, then I think you'd get over 10 goals and at least 15 assists.
21 Jul 2026 19:00:11
Rohl, not roll. ๐
21 Jul 2026 19:33:52
Problem with Curtis is that I don't believe long term he should be developed as a winger.
21 Jul 2026 19:50:52
It's not just my take, Star. It's the perspective of every Rangers fan that knows what a quality little player Curtis is. We don't need Moore, who lacks an end product. We already have someone who is at least as good, if not better, in Curtis.
You might want Moore back so Curtis can sit in the stand handing in transfer requests again, but I don't.
I want Curtis to play his football right here at Rangers, on the left-wing, and he can be just as good as Moore.
For anyone saying 'both can play at the same time' - I remember Russell Martin said that a year ago. It never happened.
21 Jul 2026 20:22:47
I honestly think Findlay Curtis' best position is central no.10 position, behind 1 or 2 strikers. ๐ค๐ฌ๐ง
21 Jul 2026 20:39:29
Stevie, you make the right point. He is 18, not the finished product and despite his talent he made no real difference to the team despite costing multi-millions. Surely then there is a player we can buy who can do that and have a re-sell value. Curtis is already that type of player and although at his age he can't play all the games he can get a few and do the same things.
Spurs played Moore season before last and sent him on loan because he wasn't good enough for their team. We are either developing him for them or putting him in the shop window. Neither are good enough for us at such a high cost.
21 Jul 2026 21:09:48
Rohl, I'd have Curtis as well, but Moore is a very good young player, I'd have him back, but his best bet is moving to a far better league, who's wanting Curtis to hand in a transfer request? If another player is holding down the left wide position, you must be thinking Curtis will hand in a transfer request instead of challenging him.
21 Jul 2026 21:16:52
Angus, I know what u and others mean, but if he played left with Gassama we then need 2 right wingers as Antman won't cut it.
Moore's a safe bet for me. Balance etc.
For 2/3m loan fee, we won't get very much in a transfer fee. I mean, Braga is ยฃ8m, just was ยฃ5m, wish we got just.
21 Jul 2026 21:24:30
No one knows how much the loan would cost, just guessing.
21 Jul 2026 22:20:18
Stevie, truth is we don't know how any decision plays out, but I would rather we spend our money on our players or elite quality loanees to fill gaps. MM isn't in that category. Yes, he is perhaps a safe(r) bet, but not particularly inspiring imo, given he wasn't the true difference maker I would want. Cerny was that, but not sure he wants back or even if I want a 2 year older player.
But rather him than MM, as he gives more experience to the squad.
McInnes likes wingers, and he likes them to go past players on outside, so does that suit Antman. If not, then Curtis has and can play on right, and we will add to both sides still, I reckon. Just don't see the benefit in MM for the amount they will want in both loan fee and wages, even if that is just ยฃ1-2M.
22 Jul 2026 01:14:13
That's fair points mate, what eve happens I've got every faith in Derek to get it right.
22 Jul 2026 10:40:34
You didn't rate him on value the way you did Chermiti, 8m was mentioned for the first 6 months of the season like it was relevant
Mikey Moore had more senior appearances and experience than Chermiti, would have cost twice as much, and performed slightly worse across the season than Chermiti
You guys would be in melt down if that was a permanent signing, why do you speak positively about him at all? He was fine but for 15-20m, if we signed him, he would have been a complete failure in the eyes of the fans who spent all season going after Chermiti
Those fans expect 8m to be best player in the league scoring 25 to 30 goals in their first professional season, while pretending Mikey Moore whose valued 2x higher is playing well and wanted to be resigned
not worth a 3m loan fee at all be realistic
