Was he wearing work boots though πŸ˜‰

21 Jul 2026 18:31:31
Naw, Angus, someone gave him trainers just before the start, mate. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

21 Jul 2026 18:38:13
I heard it was gumshoes πŸ₯ΎπŸ‘ŸπŸ©΄πŸ‘ πŸ©°, or one of them. πŸ˜‰

21 Jul 2026 18:53:12
I heard he had a bus pass cause he was 61. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

21 Jul 2026 19:10:49
Stevie, was it maybe not gymshoes, mate? My mother always called trainers gymshoes, I'd loved trainers when at school, and that's what she called them, not another pair of gymshoes.
Still love trainers at 55, mate, got some collection, many have never been worn.
Mrs calls it an obsession.

21 Jul 2026 19:47:01
Yeah, was an incredible moment.

You should look up Brooks Running on YouTube, there's 4 or 5 short videos on Project 222 that show just how much work it took to prepare for that 1 race.

21 Jul 2026 19:53:38
A fine obsession, My Star! Every time my wife buys something that we don't need, or something she won't wear and will likely give away in 6 months, I do the same with Adidas retro trainers. What's good for her is good for me. I don't give any away though. I've got them in storage containers tucked away.

21 Jul 2026 20:40:57
Stevie, well done mate for taking it as a joke. πŸ‘ Will go and have a look at the videos as well for the guy Brookes.

21 Jul 2026 21:24:08
Always Angus. 🀝🏻

Beale, it said gumshoes. I've no idea what they are, but I took it as a form of work boit, mate. I'm going to look go to it now.

Ehl, I'll do that now actually, mate, thanks for reply. πŸ‘πŸ»

You'll turn me yet. πŸ˜‚

21 Jul 2026 21:26:19
If said 16 point something MPH was his average pace for the race. Most humans can't hit that pace in general, never mind average over a mile and maintain.

Very inspiring watching it with the commentator. He really done a good job so he did, and the fans going wild.

Really brilliant stuff, and I'd echo Ehl from the other day, lads. Give it a watch.

21 Jul 2026 21:35:04
Just had a look, Stevie, rain boots, wellies, mate.

{Ed001's Note - that is gum boots.}

21 Jul 2026 22:25:43
Stevie had a look again and he was wearing gum boots (wellies) when he arrived and borrowed modern running shoes.

Gumshoes have soft, light, natural rubber soles and rubber overshoes. Soles sort of like Adidas Samba, supposedly.

Btw, he trained for decades by chasing sheep over wet pastures. As I am in Aberdeen. I'm away to enter an ultra marathon, as it sounds just like a normal day up here. πŸ˜‚

22 Jul 2026 01:05:40
Some story man and Angus, u have been dared to do Aberdeen to Ibrox for charity maye lol.

22 Jul 2026 08:02:38
Just as a wee extension to Stevie's story, I remember being told during my strenuous trek to Machu Picchu, which took 3 days, that a part time porter, who was a full time farmer, ran the same route in 3 and a half hours, using slippers carved out of an old tyres.

These guys were tremendous, always remember us having lunch then starting to hike, the porters had to wash the dishes, pack everything away, get passed us and get to the next campsite, get set up and be ready for us arriving.

Each one went to a weighing station to ensure they were within the limits of H&S and not over 20 kg on their back. Full of admiration for them.

22 Jul 2026 08:35:13
Geesa, remember the same story and how impressive our porters were on the trip. Packing light for the trip also made me realise how much rubbish I normally take away and never wear half the time.

Stevie, I doubt these days I could run from my house to Pittodrie, never mind Ibrox. Once upon a time in my pomp, maybe, but not now.

22 Jul 2026 13:22:19
Good to hear, Angus, I believe they do hold an end of season race every year for the porters with a prize of a few thou dollars. Not sure if it's the same now, but it was the last time I did the trek back in 2007.

This situation with Dahl, I honestly don't know what to believe, are we basically waiting on Raskin move? If should we not be saying to clubs interested, either put up or shut up, for balance why do we have to wait, this lad looks like a cracking player, who will if bought go for a massive price further down the line, get it done Rangers

21 Jul 2026 13:59:22
White shark, we can not leave ourselves with a heavily bloated squad.

21 Jul 2026 15:35:51
Must move a few on and we will, player seems keen so the club must avoid mishaps like injuries to players that need sold, then act.

A few will go and better prospects will arrive soon.

21 Jul 2026 15:38:40
I'm sure the player knows he is wanted and smart enough to know we need players moved on, common sense all round should prevail.

22 Jul 2026 09:38:08
We know that Raskin is away this window for a good price. Get Dahl in now, or he will be away elsewhere.

22 Jul 2026 15:14:53
We shouldn't be missing out on a player because we have bought rubbish in the past.

You might even wake to 2 or 3.

21 Jul 2026 10:06:41
Here's hoping Storm. As we awake to a new day of hopeful some might say mindless optimism, I was wondering what everyone's take on the JHD saga is. Personally I'm split between why is it taking so long to get this deal over the line, and liking the way we go about our business these days. Can't help thinking it's not financial hurdles we are facing.

Well, it shouldn't be. If we are seriously interested in getting Jens, it's an absolute no brainer for me, and we have the money. Of course this post could be blown out the water by an announcement in the next 12 to 48 hours. I'm just interested in everyone's take on what is, or may be going on.

21 Jul 2026 13:00:19
I don't think it happens mate.

21 Jul 2026 14:00:50
Not sure why everyone is panicking though, long time remaining in the window.

21 Jul 2026 14:31:48
Agreed, Gees, something like 44 days remaining.

13 hrs on the operating table performing open heart surgery and they kept him alive. They are the unsung heroes. Then you have Paredes and the Argentines earning 100's of thousands, throwing tantrums and behaving like crash bandicoots because they lost a gold cup.

21 Jul 2026 00:06:55
Great news.
