Good performance yesterday well done Rangers.

Question needs to be why does our best performance come with nothing to play for? Some players only have a performance in them with no pressure on.

I personally don't think this will have any bearing on next season and we are still miles behind celtic. I really hope this doesn't make fans feel this side is anywhere near what's required or it's a bad 2nd next season again.

McCrorie is decent but the fact McLaughlin was seen as better at the start of the season tells its own story. We definitely need a new number 1.

Both FBs need replaced to progress I. e. Barasic and Tavernier.

Soutter is to injury prone to say he's a 1st pick and I even seen someone on here say he's captain material. (That's absolutely laughable) .

Goldson I'd give one more season then try and replace.

Midfield is were it's good for Rangers and I'd like to add Fleck to what we have and rotate it a bit.

Forwards I'd like to get rid of all in the building and bring in 4 new players. Matondo and Fashion are not the required standard going forward.

P. S. Beale's bottle crashed in the semi final playing Davies, Barasic and especially Kent and Morelos has cost us a trophy.

That is only your opinion sweep we are certainly not that far behind them in my opinion,6/ 7 first team players signed I'm very confident well will win our 56 title next season all we need to do if beat them more than they do us and once again his set up can't beat better teams.

2.) 14 May 2023 11:27:21
Souttar is probably our best defender. Heres hoping he's over his injuries. John fleck is not good enough imo. can't even get a sniff for scotland.

3.) 14 May 2023 11:28:18
Nice and positive as always mate. Don't think anyone suddenly thinks all is rosey after one good result but the good thing is that there are going to be the huge changes we need. Performance wise we've been decent against them but it's mistakes that's cost us. These hopefully will be addressed and players that don't want will be moved on. Yesterday was the core of a good team and with better players to come reasons to feel good about next season. We could still finish on 94 points which is still a pretty good total all things considered.

4.) 14 May 2023 11:38:35
John fleck isn’t going to offer us that high tempo dynamic play in middle of the park that we need to dominate them, I don’t see much more coming in centrally other than dowell if Jack and lundstram stay. Will depend on moving Kamara/ hagi etc to bring bodies in.

5.) 14 May 2023 11:39:50
Paul Soutter can play mate hopefully he doesn't pick up more injuries, top cb who is our best footballing cb for some amount of years.

6.) 14 May 2023 11:46:33
kamara is a far better player than fleck.
it does seem like hell be off thiugh. maybe we get 5m for him and that's a good deal. i thiught a fee years ago thiugh he was worth 3x that.

7.) 14 May 2023 11:48:46
Can't get a sniff for Scotland? Have you not seen Scotlands midfield lately? It's far better than anything Rangers have so to suggest he's not good enough because he can't play for a Scotland midfield that consists of McGinn, McTommley and McGregor is just wrong.

8.) 14 May 2023 11:49:57
Kamara? Aye 2 years ago he was not now.

9.) 14 May 2023 11:53:58
Sweep I usually can read your posts and take your point on somethings

On this post I cannot mate

Yesterday he dropped most players who we should have dropped a long time ago and then look at the intensity and flow of our game yesterday without them in the team
we had 11 players on the park all willing to give 100% and that was the real difference

no disrespect to greegsy but he should have retired last season he is to slow and no where near the level he once was
Mcrorie has shown he is worthy of the jersey havi g another clean sheet goodness sake we can’t ask more then that of him

Souter hopefully will stay injury free now after having. The proper treatment and rest and time to build himself backup we may now see the fruits of that labour

The managers past and present have not had the bottle to drop certain players and give others a chance now that he is we are all seeing the benefit of giving g them the chance to show what they can do

we the new players he brings in and hopefully now with Wilson out the picture I believe we will do well in the market and we will March forward next season stronger with a more galvanised squad hopefully ready to fight on all fronts

I think we have been massively let down by certain players and I think the manager now sees that too and he will rectify this going forward and may well now be more wise when to drop players who don’t or won’t give there all

let’s take yesterdays win as a sign of things to come having not played the ones who continuously let us down
And look on with optimism and excitement with what we may now be able to build, create-and achieve next season

The past few months has given MB a real insight into what we have lacked what we need and what we need to achieve and expect goi g forward from all players
And he himself hopefully will have learnt a great deal and will be able to use this experience so far going forward for the better.

we have a few cracking players still in the squad they just need a few cantwells and raskins to show what you can gain when your fully hyped up for game day and ready to give it 100%

yesterday was not a run about in the park it was the changing of the team that proved we can actually match them when we have 11 committed players on the park ready to play and fight I 100% believe that.

10.) 14 May 2023 11:54:20
So John Soutter is seen as good enough but can't get a game for Scotland at CB (Scotlands weakest position) but Fleck isn't because he can't get a game in Scotlands strongest position) ?.

11.) 14 May 2023 12:10:05
Souttar will get a game for Scotland, he has to establish himself as a rangers player and prove he’s physically able to play and he’ll take a spot for country comfortably.

12.) 14 May 2023 12:16:56
McCrorie, IMO at least, has done enough to at least confirm we don't need to be hunting for 2 keepers, but for a second to come in and then it's over to both of them to take the number 1 spot.

I honestly can't see, from the games he's played, why he was behind Mclaughlin other than a lazy decision on age and experience. He's played 4 games now, including 2 against Celtic and 1 against Aberdeen, our 2 biggest games. He's kept all 4 clean sheets and made big saves/ decisions in all of them. I don't know what more the boy has to do to warrant a shot at getting No.1, especially when we need to invest heavily in other, more important areas of the squad.

John Souttar, if he can remain fit, would be the first name on my teamsheet defensively. He's more aggressive than any other CB we have, both on the ground and in the air and he's a better footballer than any other CB we have either. The balls he plays through the lines into feet could be vital against packed defences and its a ball that Goldson and Davies simply don't have.

His injury record is of course a concern, but the flip side of that argument, with his qualities, is that if he didn't have that past he'd be nowhere near Rangers at this stage in his career. He'd be playing every week in the EPL. I hope for both us and the boy that his injuries are behind him, if they are he'll do for me.

Fleck isn't one I'd like. Not the kind of player we need IMO. Offers no more than Jack or arguably Arfield.

I do agree with you re: we are still miles behind Celtic and yesterday shouldn't be read into at all. They left out 5 of their best players and had the luxury of not needing to care as they've done the hard work and won the league. We had something to prove, they didn't. Recent history tells us that when they need to win against us, they do, one way or another.

I think we have the bones of a decent side, but there were players who played well yesterday who if they are in the first 11 next season we'll have equally as difficult a year (Lundstram, Jack, Matondo, Sakala specifically) .

Ridvan showed us he's a better defender than Barasic, but poorer going forward (specifically final ball), but that can be worked on. It's easier to improve crossing than how to defend, so I prefer that as a base. Souttar as above, Raskin showed he has potential. Cantwell was outstanding. I have reservations over him still, around his workrate which was the issue with Norwich, but if he does what he did yesterday he'll have no issues.

We have a lot of work to do and I read nothing really into yesterdays reslt.

13.) 14 May 2023 12:22:18
Maybe that has something to do with not being fit sweep?Soutter will get many more caps for Scotland if he stays fit best footballing cb we've had for some amount of years.

14.) 14 May 2023 12:24:04
Sweep,

Think your comments are misgiven. We were being led by new manager and showed. Well now he's seen pluses/ minuses, team play, costs/ benefits and it showed because Gers played best match all season and overall team play couldve netted 5. My hats off to MB because in 5 games he's got gers playing best football all season.

15.) 14 May 2023 12:26:43
We completely changed how we play sweep, that's why we had a great performance. Sakala and Matondo kept celtic's backline deep because of their pace. This forced Jota and Abada to come deeper and let Tav and Yilmaz bomb forward. McCrorie's ability to sweep up and come off his line meant we could also step up. Nothing to do without playing under pressure. A simple change of personnel and tactics. No Buff, No Borna, No Kent, No Davies, No McGregor. Quite simple really mate.

16.) 14 May 2023 12:31:14
Gdog you have issues with Cantwell work rate i find that a very strange thing to say.

17.) 14 May 2023 12:31:50
To say soutter needs to establish himself at rangers 1st before he takes his place comfortably for Scotland is nonsense, Scotland over the years have been notorious for playing players who don't play with their club.

18.) 14 May 2023 12:39:56
Sweep kenny McLean plays before fleck for Scotland so what you on about Fleck is not good enough for us.

I agree with your op on the no pressure bit and some fans getting carried away, I new this would happen if we won yesterday. It’s because some fans just clueless.

19.) 14 May 2023 12:45:17
Very well put Ethelbert, you know the game mate ?.

20.) 14 May 2023 13:30:34
Clean sheet yesterday and tav set up a goal still getting it tight unreal.

21.) 14 May 2023 13:34:36
As great as yesterday was, I agree that it can't be used as a barometer for next season.

We're probably not as far behind Celtic as most make out - but I also don't think we're as close as yesterday made it look.

BIG positive for me was seeing MB move from his usual set up / formation and playing to the strength of the players we had available.

My big worry is that we'll go back to playing with 3 tens and see a return of the slow ponderous football we were treated to when Kent and Tillman were fit.

22.) 14 May 2023 13:34:41
Beat Celtic 3-0 and you come on complain you can never give your team credit for anything.

23.) 14 May 2023 13:58:06
Won the midfield battle guys, that was the key. But yes, we are still miles behind ?.

24.) 14 May 2023 14:28:13
John Fleck is miles ahead of McLean but McLean is a favourite of Steve Clarkes. He done the same with Steven O'Donnell. John Fleck would be an excellent signing imo.

25.) 14 May 2023 14:35:48
I agree EHL if we go back to three 10s playing slow football we will win nothing. Yesterday was a joy to watch. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed watching us play fast attacking football.

26.) 14 May 2023 15:21:23
Sweep i agree i wouldn't mind Fleck also good for the European squad.

27.) 14 May 2023 15:41:29
I don't think people have got carried away over yesterday's result. Just enjoying not having to face a whole season without a win over them. First thing I posted was I hope the board don't take this as the gap isn't that big. They need to support MB in getting the players he wants. Nothing wrong with enjoying the moment.

28.) 14 May 2023 15:53:16
Jfm no we just gave them winning a treble aye that win makes up for that.

29.) 14 May 2023 16:21:27
Agree about fleck a wouldn’t mind him it ibrox.

30.) 14 May 2023 16:47:40
Storm I never said it did. However it sends a message and I for one enjoyed the win. Nothing more and nothing less. The crap about them not having all their players, just like our full season when we've had a horrific injury list. Never defeated my ar*e.
Now our board must back our manager.
End of.

31.) 14 May 2023 17:34:20
@Beale.

I watched a lot of him at Norwich (Norwich are my English team) and his workrate defensively was very poor. He consistently dropped runners and/ or didn't work back at all. It's ultimately why he found himself frozen out there, not because of his undoubted ability. It's why we got him in the first place, or he'd be playing EPL.

That's why I have concerns on his workrate. Past behaviour is a reasonable indicator of future performance.

But as I said in the post you've misunderstood, if he works in every game for Rangers the way he did yesterday we'll have no issues. In fact, if he works that way along with the undoubted ability be had he won't be here for long and we'll make a tidy sum. It's the thing that held him back from being an EPL player and if he remedies that, which he appears to know himself and be making changes in his game to remedy.

As long as he doesn't snap back to previous behaviours, hell be just fine.

32.) 17 May 2023 20:25:37
Raskin, not for me.

Looks decent I'd like Tavernier and Matondo moved on as well. Maybe one more year for Tavernier but no more than that.

If these guys are part if the plan to win 56 then it will be a long way away yet. I enjoyed yesterday but it looks like fans have completely forgot how useless most of them were for large parts of the season. To me that's vert worrying and close to madness.

Matondo is on 28k a week he should be a 1st team regular on that wage. The guy isn't of the standard required and never will be.
